It really is the best way, in my opinion. It saves time and energy... and nerves. Which is why the reccers get heartfelt sympathy and lots of virtual chocolate from me.
and just because he's not afraid to actually tear up doesn't mean he'll weep every other minute.
Argh, YES. Print that out and hand it to... well, almost every fandom, ever. Not only is it exaggerated, it's also problematic from the angle of gender stereotypes. (And now I have to think of Supernatural and whether the "macho" feeling of the show could have had some subconscious allure because it mixed tough guys with EMO PORN. Like, they rarely cry, and when they do, it's usually the Manly Crystalline Single Tear, but you can see the pain in their eyes, and the slump of their shoulders, and... it IS emo porn. In the Wild West. Kinda. You know what I mean? *makes vaguely flaily hand gestures*)
I digress.
What's your favourite TW pairing, btw?
Will you despise me if it involves Owen? Because it involves Owen.
I checked my (still mostly unsorted *wince*) del.icio.us bookmarks and couldn't find the story I wanted to quote from. Ah well. See, before he mellowed a bit (if you can call it that), Owen was all sharp angles and sarcasm and ready to lash out at you because he hurt, and I found the thought of having that clash with Jack's attitude very tempting. Like explosive energy can be stunning. You could try to peel away all those razor-sharp layers and risk getting cut severely, or get lucky and find the hidden weakness that lets you reach through, but in any case, it would never go without a fight. Yeah, count me in.
