Title: Trespassers Will Be Prosecuted
Summary: A senior British security agent is sent to look into Torchwood; Jack catches him where he shouldn't be and takes matters into his own hands.
Characters/Pairing: Jack Harkness/Jools Siviter
I'm firmly convinced that Jack has a much darker and more ruthless side than he's letting on on the show. No-one can live as long as he had and see what he's seen and not have. Plus, Time Agents seem to be psychopaths of some sort. So I love it when writers show this side.
K_Haldane writes him excellently, here. I know nothing about the crossover fandom, and yet I was completely sucked in by the characterisation and the use of sex as a plot device.
“And if I decline?”
“Then I lock this door, and send down one of my staff in the morning with your clothes. You still get to leave, but you go empty-handed.”
“Your staff? You’d let them see what sort of perverted games you play here, inside their own organization?” Jools cursed inwardly at the lapse in his control, which cut in a fraction too late to avoid blurting out the words. He had to be rattled indeed to fall for a bluff that obvious.
Unless it wasn’t a bluff. Harkness was smiling again, a knowing, predatory smile. Jools had the sudden conviction that the Captain’s staff wouldn’t be surprised to find a naked man locked in one of their cells. And he kept lube in his desk drawer — perhaps he had their loyalty in more than simply professional matters. Harkness’ next words only reinforced this impression.
“Listen. If I told my staff to come down here and kill you and hide the body, all they’d do is argue about whose turn it was.” Harkness paused thoughtfully for a moment. “Unless I told Ianto to do it, in which case he’d simply come down here, kill you and hide the body, which is probably why he gets so many of the shitty jobs. So that’s your choice; the difference between being defeated and being beaten.”
