How she wished he'd never made that promise to her. Everything might've been all right, if only he wouldn't have made that promise.
That stupid fucking promise.
That's what had driven him to Naraku's castle that night, to her.
She told him to run. She was certain that Naraku wouldn't kill her--not while shards remained, anyway. But, even as she shouted at him, she'd known that he wouldn't listen.
He never did. The moron.
She was tempted to 'sit' him, but that would only have made matters worse, considering the circumstances. If he hadn't come charging in with that damn sword, acting like a complete idiot, she might've had time to think of something.
As it happened, she didn't.
She didn't even have time to cry, or to run to him. Or anything. Before she knew it, she was being dragged away by Kagura, and they were flying somewhere--she wasn't sure where. Her brain hadn't been very cooperative at the time.
She'd registered that Kouga had come along, at some point. He said something about Inuyasha. She wasn't sure what it was, but she wanted to punch him for it, anyway. She wanted to punch someone.
What she really wanted to do was punch Inuyasha for being such an idiot. Then came the realization that she couldn't.
Maybe that's why she hadn't minded, or even felt it when Naraku's tentacle had ended all thought and feeling.
