SM Entertainment is known in Asia for developing strong artists and regrouping talented individuals to make powerful and close units. But before all the success, there is the training. Training by this company is hard - many get recruited at a young age, from all corners of Asia, and sent to Seoul. Once there, they must follow classes at SM Academy as well as getting regular education. Many trainees must also work part-time, to pay for their food, rent and education.

The SM crew firmly believes that competition helps the teenagers train, so they put together what they call training groups. Those groups can have from as little as two members to as many as thirteen, living together, training together, breathing together (with a little monetary help from the company, but not much) and often competing against each other at the Academy. The winners advance, and get closer to debut.

But, even though it happens, making enemies is not wise in the trainee world. Because more often than not, the training groups get split up at one time or another, and then individuals might be picked and paired up again to be in real groups.

Your dream, as a trainee, is to one day be picked to be in a group, or as a solo artist, and become one of the glamorous artists of SM Entertainment. And to make it happen, you know you must learn to work with your team - as well as develop your very own talents - and survive in Seoul.

SM Academy is an AU Asian music industry roleplay focusing on the lives of young trainees that will, hopefully, develop into well-rounded performers and be cast into chart-topping groups in due time. While the game is based in the Seoul area of South Korea, we are strongly encouraging the inclusion of Asian characters other than Koreans. We do not own or pretend to be any of the artists portrayed here, as it is a roleplaying game. The contents of this community and all affiliated journalling accounts are fictional.

•  A limit of four characters (muses, if you'd like) per writer will be allowed.

•  Stay as far away from OOC drama as possible, and please be mature enough to be able to handle IC and OOC issues separately.

• That being said, ALL OOC posts, including drops and hiatus posts, MUST be made in sma_ooc.

•  Speaking of maturity, themes such as sexual contents, homosexuality and health problems must be dealt with as realistically as possible. For this reason, we're requiring all of our members to be of age. Of course, characters in the community can be slightly younger.

• Lines involving pregnancy, marriage, disorders and other such themes are to be discussed with ALL parties involved. The mods will not regulate trainees' private activities, but we only ask for your maturity in such situations.

•  When applying to join the community, make sure you've registered an IJ username that has your muse's name in it, and will use that account solely for the purpose of this game. Register an AIM screenname as well, as most interaction in the game will happen via instant messaging. (The rules have recently changed, and your muse's name does not need to be included in that screenname).

•  Although interaction between the characters will be done on AIM, we are allowing the creation of threads too, especially for group scenes involving several trainees in the Academy. Threads may be posted in the community journal.

•  Activity checks will be done, so be sure you update your character's journal with an entry of decent length at least once a month. Inactive characters will be removed from the game and those muses will be taken off the claims list. If your muse is on the warning list (which is posted two or three days before the end of each month) for two months in a row, they will be automatically cut.

• You are only allowed to reclaim a muse once after you have dropped them or let them get cut.
