This is a lesson in procrastination.
WHO: Seamus Finnigan and Aurelie Runcorn
WHERE: A Bite on the Side
WHEN: Thursday morning
WHAT: Seamus makes and emergency bakery trip. [challenge thread]
RATING: TBD
WARNINGS: None, probably.

You would think by this point in his life Seamus would know there are some things that shouldn’t be left until the last minute. About an hour ago he’d been lying in bed, recovering from a late night at work when a sudden realization hit him. There was a surprise family get together planned for his mum’s birthday. All the responsibilities and preparations had been doled out amongst various family members so that no one person had to be in charge of too much. Generally, his mother was the planner and organizer in the family, so anything being put together without her knowledge had to be a group effort if it was expected to actually happen and happen without too many unfortunate hijinks. Seamus’ responsibility was to get the cake. And his mum’s birthday was- well it was tonight. Again, you’d think he would know better by now.

But at least to his own credit, he had remembered in time to not completely fail at the task, and it had sent him scrambling out of his flat and in search of the nearest bakery. Soon enough he’d found himself slipping through the front door of A Bite on the Side. It was a catering place, but they had a bakery in the front and that was exactly what he needed. Immediately Seamus started to look around, soon enough finding a display of ready made cakes and almost cluelessly considering the options in front of him. Should he get one with the candy flowers on it? Or the one with the bird was pretty? That seemed like a good ‘mum’ cake. His mum liked birds and flowers too. Or maybe he should keep it with the occasion and get the one with frosting balloons? Christ on a cracker, he was bad at this. He was going to have to have a talk with whoever had the bright idea for him to pick out the cake. Drinks he’s positively swish at picking out for people. Cakes not so much. Regadless of what he ended up with, at least he wasn’t going to show up at the house empty handed, so that was a little light of positivity to dwell on.
