Being the documentaion of the letter left for Mr. Alexander Endicott at the Shoppe of Miss Jessamyn Watts on the seventh day of August in the year 1883, to be received on the eleventh day of August in the year 1883.
Mr. Alex,
I sincerely hope my aunt and uncle did not give you a difficult time. They can sometimes be overbearing. It comes from being shopkeepers I think. Obviously as you've no doubt figured I can't make our intended meeting. I'm very sorry... I did not know how to contact you - I was not sure if I ought leave word with Harry in hopes you would see him before our arranged time or not, but I knew you would be coming here at least and so prepared this missive for you knowing that you would at least receive it and understand. I had to make an unexpected trip to Portland for the shoppe.
I can leave word with Harry when I get back if you want to try again. I hope I won't be in Portand more than a day but the sea is never predictable so I can't say when I'll be back for certain but no more than a fortnight. And since by the time you read this it will have been nearly a week, I'll be back in less than a week from when you read this.
They have airships that dock on ships out at sea! I'm hoping I'll get to see it happen while I'm here just for the experience. I think it should be quite remarkable.
