Summary: Bill tracks down one of his siblings, and kicks himself for missing the obvious
Status: Incomplete
Since Bill had been laid up at his house for most of the past week, he'd had time to catch up on some reading he normally didn't bother with - once he'd run out of news and work related stuff, Charlie had found a stash of magazines for him that he mostly wasn't interested in, but flipped through out of boredom anyway. He wasn't really interested in the newest work out fads or craptastic sports gear, and even less interested in the personal lives of the celebrities that hawked it. Still, it passed the time.
And when he found an article about the Holyhead Harpies' newest leading lady it all suddenly became a lot more interesting. Bill had never been one to follow the sport too much - he kept up with the standings so as not to embarrass himself around his friends and would go see the National team compete each year, but beyond that he didn't give a rat's ass who played for which team. Now he was kicking himself for not paying more attention.
Ginevra Rosier bore a very strong resemblance to her biological mother. And to Charlie, which was what Bill noticed second. What he noticed first was the name, which was unusual enough catch his attention any time he heard it.
For most of the rest of that day he'd spent his time looking through anything he could find for references to Ginevra Rosier, and when that produced nothing but gossip he broke doctor's orders and headed in to the office to use the resources he had there. His research wasn't part of any sanctioned mission, but few people bothered him, and the ones that did backed off when they learned what it was about. Bill didn't have any issues giving up his sob story (always told in a stern tone, mind you) if it got him closer to what he wanted.
Ginevra Rosier had been adopted by the Rosier family when she was an infant. Previous records were sealed, even to Bill, but the age matched up right. She'd attended Hogwarts, made fairly average grades, played on her House team with great success. Had been engaged to Theodore Nott who was picked up for being a blood traitor and was now dating some other guy Bill didn't care about. Someone else who probably wasn't good enough for her.
She'd been a Gryffindor. Bill didn't have any doubts that this was his sister and the knowledge that she'd been in the same house as Charlie filled him with pride. He sat as his desk in the office for hours staring at a photo of her Gryffindor House team that he'd managed to track down before finally heading home again.
That had been several days ago. Turns out getting in contact with a semi-famous Quidditch player is rather hard. He'd tried the obvious - contacting her agent and explaining the situation to him. The man had laughed him out of of the office. He'd tried use his DE contacts to get in touch with Evan Rosier and explain things to him instead, but the man was traveling and couldn't be contacted until next week. Bill didn't want to wait that long, so the only option left was to find some way to get in contact with Ginny herself.
Which was how he found himself sitting in the stands for one of the Harpies' open practices. He wasn't the only fan there, although the crowd was pretty sparse. Not many people were as interested in practices, especially the staged ones that were open to the public, as they were in actual games. Bill's hair was still shorter than he wanted it, but long enough now that it looked like he'd just forgotten to get a haircut several months in a row and added to the still-raw scar it gave him quite a disheveled appearance. He sat by himself and watched Ginny intently throughout the practice, noting with pride that she was every bit as good as the 'zines claimed she was.
When practice was over some of the Harpies headed for the stands, apparently to greet and talk to the fans there. The fans clearly expected this and clamored for the players' attention. Bill stood up a little belatedly and headed for Ginny, hoping he wouldn't have to make a scene in front of this crowd to get her attention.
