Publicly, the lower-echelon pleasure providers (called whores) are really just courtesans in training. That is true is some cases. In other cases, they are former courtesans who failed to live up to expectations or just short-term employees who won’t be there long enough to learn the techniques.
There are also some who are not there entirely by choice. They are employees who upset a customer or even clients who ran up such a debt that the only way to pay it back was by coming to work for the resort (sometimes for short stints at a time.) Employees are all trained extensively, so Shambhala considers them an investment. The contracts they write require employees to work for them for a period of time to pay back this date. If they quit or upset a client, then they have to work off the debt in whatever way the management deems fit.
Conveniently, the contracts also include a non-disclosure clause. If they tell anyone, they risk being made to serve for longer.
Generally, these difficult whores are only sent to clients who are largely indifferent to their complaints.
The rules governing the treatment of whores are less severe, though you still may not maim or cripple them. You are free to get a little rough with them, though, if you like. Sometimes, they like it too.
Conversely, the courtesans are to be given specific instructions on what is expected of them when they are booked. If for some reason you, the client, wish to bypass that step, you must clear it with management.
Taking a courtesan out of action for more than a couple of days will result in fines. Scarring of any sort will result in suspension of membership and an investigation which might result in stiffer penalties.
