You understand that you're always in my heart. You're always on my mind. When it all becomes too much, you're never far behind. And there's no one that comes close to you that could never take your place Because only you can love me this way.
When I love, I love hard. When I fight, I fight hard. I've been married once before, and I never have felt the way I do now. With her, it's more intense and passionate. She has been the only one who could break down the wall I had built up. All it takes is a look, sometimes, and I give into her. Those blue eyes can see beyond the exterior of me. She can see right into my soul. She can tell when I'm lying or not. She knows when I'm serious or not. She could really write a book about me.
When I'm angry at the world, she can calm me down with just the touch of her hand. She takes away all my problems even though I don't need her to. She carries both of our problems and still manages to put a smile on her face for everyone. It amazes me at how strong she is. I really do have to thank Rick and Bev Lambert for that. They made her an amazing woman.
She's the only one who can make me go weak in an instant. She can have me drop to the floor on my knees and crying. She can hold me and take all the pain away. Just the touch of her hand is enough for me to want to cry at times. How the hell did I get so lucky to have someone like her, I'll never know. I'm thankful that I have her forever, and that I never have to share her with anyone other than our children.
Have you ever felt so in love that you wanted to be selfish with your partner? I feel like that every single day. I don't want to share her attention with anyone, but I know I've got to share her so she can do her shows, at least. Everything and everyone else? No. Am I scared of something? No, not at all. I'm not scared of losing her to someone else. I know exactly who she sleeps next to every night. I know whose arms she longs to be in, and it is no one elses other than mine.
Is she desperate? Not hardly. She has plenty of choices out there, but she chooses to be with me. I won't lie, we've had a rough 5 years. We argue on a daily basis because we both have different views on things. Do we fight? Oh yeah, I won't deny that. My house has been destroyed because things have been thrown. Why live like that? Because when we love, we love hard. When we fight, we fight hard. We will say we're done with each other and walk away, but I guarantee you that in an hour, we're back to being in love with each other. We're very competitive, too. We compete at everything from awards to chart positions to anything. We can make anything into a competition. It's the way the Lambert-Shelton household works.
When we are at home in Tishomingo, Oklahoma, we aren't Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert. To our community, we are Blake and Miranda. We live a very normal life back home. We cook out on the grill, do dishes, laundry, clean house, etc. We sit around a bonfire with our guitars and drinks. We go to Sooners and do all of our grocery shopping on our own. We go to Wal-Mart and buy what we need for the house. We buy feed for the animals and feed them on our own. We harvest our own food and everything. We do everything that a typical couple would do that lived on a farm, just add in the booze and crack pipe.
We have a lot of fun at home. We'll even ride our fourwheelers through the mud and get mud all over each other. We even grab a six-pack, climb into my truck and ride around on the back roads of Johnston County while listening to music and talking. That is usually how we pick the music for our upcoming albums. Do we get pulled over? Nah, they all know my truck and hers. Like I said, no one messes with us when we're home. We're really fortunate and greatful that we are part of a wonderful community.
I usually have the Mayor of Milburn at my house. The Sheriff of Johnston County usually stops by to see how things are going. I've had the 20th District Judge at my house, too. We never know who is going to be at our house when we come home. I've even found Ashley Monroe and Eddie from Montgomery Gentry in my house along with some of your favorite Nascar drivers. My house is like, the safe haven for everyone. It's out on 1200 acres, and law enforcement can't just come on the property without being invited. Oklahoma is a great state for having laws in place such as that. They have to have a search warrant just to enter my gates unless I invite them inside.
