The best way to show your appreciation to an author, artisan or artist is to leave a review. Remember, none of us are paid to do this, and while we all enjoy making art and crafts or writing stories, we are also encouraged by feedback. It makes us continue with what we do; it makes us strive to improve ourselves, and in the long run, it gives you more to see and read.
But reviewing can also be difficult. It takes time, thought, and sometimes we think we don't need to say anything. Think again. There is always something you can say when you enjoyed certain aspects of a story or piece of art. Show us that you're up to it; review as much as you can.
Those of you who review the most will be rewarded with prizes. However, these reviews must be longer than three words, contain more substance than a mere, 'Oh, how nice' and clearly show that you've read the story or looked at the art or craft. 'I liked the way you stitched the face' or, 'The way Severus cast that spell fascinated me' would be eligible, for example.
You can, of course, review on both, insanejournal and livejournal. However, for the challenge, we count one review per chapter or story, or piece of art. If you, for example, review chapter 1-3 of a story on insanjournal, chapter 4-6 on livejournal, and leave a summary review on the author page, then we count seven reviews for you. Ask away if things are unclear here.
You don't need to be on insanejournal or livejournal to participate. People without accounts show as anonymous reviewers, please sign with a name, handle or initials to make you identifiable. Anonymous reviewers who sign their posts are just as eligible for the prizes as the livejournal or insanejournal members.
