Reminder: AVD Submissions due on the 11th :)
Dearest sighers,
This is your friendly reminder that AVD prompts are due on Saturday, February 11th.
Before you freak out and clutch at your face, wail to the heavens, or imagine you see a drenched child with bedraggled black hair hissing, “Threeeeeeee daayyyyyyysssss!” TAKE A MOMENT AND BREATHE!
You can do it. We’ll do it together. Nice, soothing breaths. In. Out. In. Out. (x infinity, cause, you know, importance of oxygen and all).
If you have already forgotten, the list of prompts and the rules for the fest may be found here. Go forth and meditate over them.
If you are still stumped, needing inspiration, or are just bored and wish to have insight into the perplexing brains of your modly ones, AVD Question and Answer session below.
Q: Does my fic have to be Snarry?
A. Not at all! So far we have seen quite a bit of Snupin, and one of your mods may or may not have written a Severus/Bellatrix story. *cough* Get over it, she’s hot. */cough* So long as our darling Severus has an entertaining miserable or out-of-the-norm Valentine’s Day, it’s all good in the hood. <ED: Dude. You’re not “gangsta”> (“lalalala, I hear nothing”)
Q: I feel like I need to be funny, but my humor is a dried-up husk of desperation and self-loathing.
A. That was not submitted in question format, but we are still here for you! First: This is SEVERUS. He rocks the self-loathing like no one else, so do not be afraid to go there. If you want cheesy humor, appropriate or not, why not throw in a Harry Potter pick-up line or three? Those are always good for an arched eyebrow or drunken rambling.
Q: Does it have to have a happy ending?
A: ANGST WINS ALL THE TIME <33333 *blithly deletes Snow’s edit*
Q: Does the setting have to be Hogwarts? Or can they live somewhere else entirely?
A: Dude, you can have them living out their lifelong dreams of becoming lion tamers in Africa for all we care. Rock it.
Q: Can I have Severus woo himself since clearly no one else appreciates him?
A: Absolutely! That has All The Potential to be humorous and mind trippy and perfect for AVD.
Q: Can this be a sequel to something, or part of a series, or does it need to be stand-alone?
A. In this case, it needs to be stand alone. We think your on-going series are amazing and deserving of adoration, but submissions should be made specifically for the AVD fest :)
Q: I know this is an ANTI-valentine's day event, but I really love this holiday. Can I still write something fluffy and sappy?
A: You certainly can. There is a place in our hearts that sighs over the schmoopyness inherent with Valentine’s Day. And JUST BECAUSE things don’t work out the way Severus or Random Partner had planned, doesn’t mean there can’t be fluff and Awwwwww.
