That you liked that paragraph in particular is really interesting to me - I'm still trying to figure out what I did right in that paragraph so I can (maybe) do it again later.
As for the end, I apologize. It's a cliche, but I've been thinking a lot about the times we part with loved ones, and how we don't know whether we'll ever see that person in the same loved light again, but we don't think about it (probably because if we thought about someone really leaving every time they actually left we'd go crazy in a heartbeat). But then when someone leaves for good (in any manner of ways, not just death), the world shifts, and it can be pretty devastating.
