| home economics: week three, finance! |
![]() |
| Welcome to the second week of your Home Economics class! This week your teacher will be Professor Addus Noddley. Professor Noddley is the number one banker at Gringotts, and although he is half-Goblin, he knows exactly what he wants and how to get it. He doesn't let people away with things, and he is prone to fits and tempers so watch out! In fact, pretty much the only redeeming quality about the man is his ability to save you thousands of Galleons on your bills and banking each year. Classes will begin at eight am sharp and you will be meeting in the new classrooms in the tower on the Second level The first half of class will run until eleven-thirty at which point you will be let out for an hour and a half for lunch! Classes will resume at one pm and will run until four pm after which point you will be free to go back to your Common Rooms and chillax, I believe the right word is, with your friends! |
Monday, August 17th: Today, the first half of class will be focused on explaining the different household bills, how to pay them, why they pay them, who they pay them to and so on. The Professor will explain and show the students the different results of what might happen if you don't pay them, and she will also show you how to always find the best deal possible when looking at these. The second half of class will focus on long term financial goals, as well as the students current plans and such. Each student is now required to keep a list of all money that they spend. Tuesday, August 18th: Today, the first half of class will be focused on jobs, the different types of jobs, how to find one, how to know what one is right for you, what to ask and what to look for in jobs. The Professor will explain what is expected when you go in for an interview and how to properly act during your job. The second half of class will have guest speakers who come in and explain their jobs. On the roll is an Auror, a Reporter, George Weasley for WWW, Charlie Weasley for Dragon Tamers, the Minister of Magic, The Headmaster and an Oblivator. Wednesday, August 19th: Today, the first half of class will be focused on interviews more in depth. And then the second half of class each student will be conducting an interview with one of the guest speakers from the previous day, acting as if they really were looking for a job. The teachers will range from easy interviewers, to nice ones, to hard and to mean ones and everything in between. Thursday, August 20th: Today, the first half of class will be focused on how to properly save and spend money, what to look for when buying and how credit works with Gringotts and other banks. They will also briefly touch on foreign currency and muggle money. The second half of class will be a practical. Each student will be given 100 Fake Galleons and a job from one of the speakers previously. They will spend the rest of the afternoon dealing with different scenarios that the teacher will give them, and whoever has the most money at the end of the class will win. The winner was Xavier Bletchley. Friday, August 21st: Today, the class will be taking an excursion to Gringotts bank! Each student will be opening a savings account with five galleons that the school will supply. Even if the students already have a savings account, they will be required to open a new one.
