Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
WHO: A lot of folks.
WHAT: Truth or Dare.
WHERE: The Room of Requirement
WHEN: Saturday night, starting at 9:30 PM
RATING: I'll hazard a guess at PG-13 to R, depending on the dares
STATUS: Incomplete/Open.

A part of Evan was nervous. The very small, very often muted bit of him that was fidgety and quiet and logical thought that this situation couldn't possibly end well. There was no way in all the world that getting this many of his peers together in one room with a nigh-limitless supply of alcohol and a game designed at causing tension and awkward moments could ever, ever end well.

So, of course, the rest of Evan (the sarcastic, cruel, manipulative, dishonest, selfish, and immature part) thought it was a brilliant idea.

He had slipped down the halls of the castle completely undetected with the aid of those wonderful little sunglasses of his, and had even been in generous enough of a mood to bring a bottle of firewhiskey for the occasion. Evan checked his watch when he reached the room and found he was a bit early even for the pre-party meeting he and Katie had planned to ensure the room was quite settled by the rest of the group's arrival. He shrugged as he slipped in, picturing the ideal setup for this particular event as he crossed the stone threshold.

The room didn't disappoint. Evan smirked as he saw a circle of plump bean bags with a wide enough space in the middle for whatever theatrics the night's dares could include. The lighting was low and somber and flickered in a manner that almost reminded Evan of a campfire, and he was sure (though he had no way to test it) that no amount of sound from inside the room would be heard outside of it, no matter how loudly they laughed. Evan was fairly certain he'd thought of everything they'd need from the room, but his lingering doubts would remain until Katie arrived to offer a second opinion. He checked his watch and smirked. He had nothing to worry about. This was going to be fun.

[OOC: For the sake of simplicity and clarity, the initial chain of comments will be the entrances/greetings/pre-game drinking and hanging out, whilst the second chain (that I'm currently starting) will be the game itself.]

Katie burst into the room, 10 minutes late, as usual, looking a bit dissheveled. Her hair was nearly wind-blown from the last sprint she had taken down the hallway, shirt a bit crinkled, cheeks with a hint of flush, and a devil's grin plastered to her face. She barely glanced at the room before letting out a, "Nice one, Chambers."

She looked his way for a brief moment before collapsing into an bean bag. Katie vaguely wondered if he was the truth or dare sort. Obviously, she was the dare. She let it drift for her mind as he wasn't her target.

It took absolutely every ounce of willpower that Evan possessed to not ask what took Katie so long. As it was, he couldn't keep the somewhat smug smirk from appearing as she complimented his setup, and he gave her a slight nod and a quiet "Thanks."

He slipped into the bean bag beside hers and crossed his arms. He gazed over the sunglasses at the girl and the smug smirk took on a far more impish form. He had a few ideas where he could go with tonight's dares and he knew Katie wasn't the sort to back down from a challenge.

"So," he said, pushing the sunglasses back up the bridge of his nose and sinking backwards into the bean bag. "You ready?"

It took Katie all she had not to laugh as he looked at her over his sunglasses. Why was he bloody wearing them again? Obviously it was for show rather than necessity. Her smile grew bigger and she made few attempts to push it back.

Katie's stance grew challenging as she crossed her arms, mirroring him. With a small snort, her right eyebrow rose in defiance. "Are you ready?"

"Abercrombie," Evan said, his voice dripping with sarcastic bravado, "I was born ready."

He cast a glance over his shoulder at the door, and sighed when he realized that coming a full half hour before the rest of the group might have been the tiniest bit of overkill on their part.

"You think they're all going to show?" He asked over a moment. "Or will it be just the two of us because, really, I think the game'll get boring after a while if that's the case."

Katie crinkled her nose in distaste for his question. "Of course they are," she said as she leaned back and put her arms behind her head. Left ankle crossed over her right knee, she was comfortable. "They're all far too interested to back out."

THE GAME ITSELF

Evan stood in the center of the circle and slowly turned around to look at the assorted group. It was a fair turnout, he supposed, and he found the nerves he'd felt earlier melting away into the same sort of excitement he got before a quidditch match. Things were about to get interesting.

"Alright folks," he said, employing his usual charming smile. This was the theatrical portion of the night - his element. He continued to move around within the circle as he spoke, appearing to address each one of them separately as he went on. "I would presume that you all know the way the game works, but let's just go over things to make sure we don't have any disputes later.

"The process is easy and, honestly, I'm embarrassed for you if you don't know," he said, shaking his head sadly. "The questioner chooses a target and asks said target whether they'd prefer truth or dare. The target chooses one, and the questioner goes on from there.

"Now, for truths, anything goes, of course," Evan waved his hand dismissively, "but dares need a bit of limitations considering our current setting. Rule one is that you can't dare anyone to do something that involves someone not currently in this room. If they're not here, they're a liability, and they stay out.

"Rule two is that the dare can't break any major laws. We'll leave the term 'major' up to your discretion, but let's just agree for now that it includes but isn't limited to killing each other. Rule three is that you can't question the person who just questioned you. Simple enough, eh?" Evan smirked as he finally stopped moving, facing toward the door and the bean bag that was in front of it. He tilted his head downward to look over the sunglasses on his face at his target and a rather devilish smirk came across his face. "So, Abercrombie, would you care to be our first questioner?"

Evan slipped into his own bean bag and waited for Katie to make the next move.

Let the games begin.

Katie positively grinned as she was deemed the first questioneer. Let the game begin.

She took a quick look around the circle before settling for Vee. Please pick dare. Please, please, please. A subtle, devilish grin grew widely across her face. "Vee. Truth or dare?" Please dare, please dare.

Tinsley arrived to the scene rather late. She was trying her best not to be too late but Badger Bradley and her had just concluded a study session, only several minutes ago. Tinsley hurriedly dressed and finally took a glance at a clock. She was late, oh-so very late. Badger, that arse held her up for an hour too long. Or Tinsley forgot about the game and was way to concerned with Badger getting his Charms homework right for at least one time.

She quickly dusted herself off and walked to the Room of Requirement, stealthy against any type of prefect. Tinsley couldn't believe she was actually attending such a thing. But Katie, her endearing and crazy best friend had proclaimed she should come, so she just couldn't refuse. Tinsley raised an eyebrow when she saw the game already began. "Sorry I'm late."She said not to loudly and quickly closed the door.

Instead of joining in on the circle, she sat outside of it. Tinsley fiddled with her fingers wondering how long it would take Badger. Obviously she would bicker to him.

Tatum arrived just after Tinsley, she was usually always on time, but she was distracted by something completely important, a nap. Tatum had been doing a lot of napping as of recently. She wasn't usually the type for things like this, breaking rules, having a bit of fun, but why not? It had been such a ridiculous two weeks, she needed something to relax.

She took the seat next to Katie and nodded at Tinsley and at Evan. "hello everyone, sorry I'm a bit late." She pulled her skirt over her knees, no need to be indecent either. "I hope I haven't missed anything."
