It was the oddest thing to wake up in the morning and be in a good mood. Not that it was a bad feeling, of course- having two days in a row of simply enjoying people around him was a rarity. Something he didn't know he could enjoy but Balthazar was doing just that; he was enjoying it. At some moments he wondered why not everyone was in such a great mood, especially the seventh years since they were almost done with schooling. It was a great feeling to know that and everyone should be that excited. One person he noticed was not looking so sunny was someone he knew sooner or later he'd have to at least be respectful towards. Since learning the definition of being betrothed, Bal and Zarabeth had more or less despised the other's existence.
Today seemed like a good day to change that.
It was not long into his only free period in the day and Balthazar was on the hunt for the moody Gryffindor who always seemed to be nowhere when he needed her. Her reaction to him had yet to cross Balthazar's mind since he was sure she would not be bothered by some friendliness. He wasn't about to start waltzing with her across the school- just a small conversation. A harmless talk that she can brush off as a mind game later on.
Surprised to have found her so easily, B recognized the girl's poise and profile as he turned the corner and walked out into the courtyard. His thoughts of a simple conversation where altered- it wasn't like a hug was out of the ordinary for people forced to be with each other... right? Besides, what's the worse that could happen to him (not that he remembered she had a good right hook). In a good natured way, Balthazar walked over to the witch and wrapped his arms around the girl's shoulder from behind, smile plastered to his face.
