"You should take the piano."

Barrett looked at his father as they continued loading his things into the lorry they had hired for the day. He had left most of his furniture behind since he and Katie had bought a new bedroom set in addition to other things for the rest of the flat, but what he had was still to much for his car or his father's.

"Dad, that piano's been in that room since I was kid," he protested. "It should stay there."

"But it's your piano. It's always been, and you should have it." His father put down the box and turned to him, putting his hands on Barrett's shoulders. "Look, son, your mum and I discussed it at length, and we really want you to have it."

Barrett looked up at him for several moments before finally nodding. "Okay."

"Good. We'll hire some men to move it to your flat in the next couple of weeks."

After looking around for a bit, Barrett and Katie had finally found a place that they had fallen in love with - it had everything they wanted, including a view and a good managing company. The estate agent had finally got off his bum and done what he needed to in order to help them secure their new home.

Now they were moving in. He and Katie had a home.

Jack brought out a box and loaded it into the lorry. "That's the last of it."

"Thanks," Barrett told his brother.

"Going to be weird, knowing you won't be coming back anymore."

"You'll get used to it, I'm sure."

"Yeah."

With all his belongings ready to go, Barrett and his father headed over to the flat in the lorry. Katie had stayed behind to work on the stuff that was already there. As they got closer, Barrett found his excitement growing. This was really it. Their own place. Their own life together.

When they arrived, Barrett grabbed a few light things and headed to the flat. "Katie, love, we're back!" he called out once he got the door open.

***

Katie looked at all the boxes and sighed. She never realized she had so much stuff until now, and this wasn't even half of what she had. She'd left most of her things at her parents' house, knowing there wouldn't be enough room in their new flat for all of it.

She stood from the bed and looked around. In the corner was a bag from a department store and she snorted. Her mother had forced her into going shopping for linens and towels the night before. Pulling some of the linens out, Katie decided on the navy blue set and made the bed. At least they would have a place to sleep.

Once she was finished there, Katie made her way to the kitchen. Jenny had bought them all new things for the kitchen, along with cookbooks. Katie had to bite back a comment about how she did know magic and could use it to cook. She didn't want to hurt Jenny's feelings so she kept her mouth closed.

She was just finishing up when she heard Barrett come in. Katie went out to the living room and took the top box off his pile. "Hey, you," she whispered before softly kissing him. "The bathroom and bedroom and kitchen are pretty much done. And I only used magic...a few times."

***

Barrett grinned at his wife, returning her kiss before setting the boxes down. "Only a few times, hmmm?" he asked with a laugh. He wouldn't actually give her any trouble for it. After all, this was who she was. He remembered watching reruns of an old show called Bewitched when he was growing up and how the husband in that had never wanted his wife, who was a witch, to use her magic. It had always seemed wrong to Barrett, him denying who the woman he said he loved was by making her suppress it.

He promised he would never do that to Katie.

"My father is downstairs with the lorry. And he and mom want us to take the piano," he told her.

"Actually, I'm right here," Giles said, carrying some boxes inside. Barrett hurried over to help him. "And you are taking it. It belongs with you. Hello, Katie. The place is starting to look wonderful."

It didn't take as long to empty the lorry as it did to load it. And when they were done, Barrett's father excused himself to return the lorry and leave them alone to work on their new place.

"Do call if you need any help, though," he told them before heading out the door.

Once he was gone, Barrett went over to Katie and wrapped his arms around her from behind, kissing her neck. "Our own place," he told her. "Amazing, isn't it?"

Katie wished she could do something to help Barrett more. She couldn't take any more of his energy since it would be too much for her to take. "Barrett," she whispered while holding on to him. "It's not your fault. Please don't think it is. You couldn't help it. You know you couldn't have stopped the demon. I know it wasn't you. Please don't hate yourself for it."

Pulling back, Katie looked at him and cupped his face. She reached down and took his hand, and placed it on her stomach. "Listen to me, Barrett," she said while tears came to her eyes. "You're going to be all right. I'm going to be all right. All of us are going to be all right."

She looked down at where his hand was and looked back at him. "We both need you, Barrett. If our unborn child can survive what happened, then we can survive it, too. Please, Barrett. Don't do this to yourself. I'm always going to love you, no matter what," Katie said before leaning her forehead against his.

"We're going to be parents, Barrett and... well, the baby's going to need their daddy because you're going to be the most wonderful father ever. I know you will," she whispered.

Barrett nodded as Katie told him it hadn't been his fault. He knew that, deep down he did, but it was hard to believe it in a way. If he hadn't been who he was, the Key, embued with the energy that had been lying dormant inside him since they had defeated Glory, he couldn't help but thing that the demon probably wouldn't have gone after him or done what it had done. Of course, that was probably untrue - the demon would have just used him to get away, but still...

When she cupped his face, Barrett looked up into her eyes, barely aware of where she had placed his hand until she mentioned an unborn child. His eyes widened as he glanced down at her stomach in amazement.

"Baby?" he asked, his voice low. "We're going to be parents?" He knew he was repeating what she had just said, but he couldn't help it. His mind was spinning. When had she found out?

He felt tears coming to his eyes. They were going to have a baby. He was going to be a father. And she believed in him. Despite everything that had happened, she still believed in him.

Sometimes, he wondered what he had done to deserve such a wonderful woman to share his life with.

"I love you," he told her softly. "So much. And this child...our child..."

Words failed him. Of course, he was going to love him or her just as much. He or she was part of them, a gift from the woman he adored. But he just found himself overwhelmed by both the emotions he was feeling and the energy still working its way through him. All he could do was pull her closer into his lap and kiss her deeply, needing so much to just feel her against him.
