Katie wished she could do something to help Barrett more. She couldn't take any more of his energy since it would be too much for her to take. "Barrett," she whispered while holding on to him. "It's not your fault. Please don't think it is. You couldn't help it. You know you couldn't have stopped the demon. I know it wasn't you. Please don't hate yourself for it."
Pulling back, Katie looked at him and cupped his face. She reached down and took his hand, and placed it on her stomach. "Listen to me, Barrett," she said while tears came to her eyes. "You're going to be all right. I'm going to be all right. All of us are going to be all right."
She looked down at where his hand was and looked back at him. "We both need you, Barrett. If our unborn child can survive what happened, then we can survive it, too. Please, Barrett. Don't do this to yourself. I'm always going to love you, no matter what," Katie said before leaning her forehead against his.
"We're going to be parents, Barrett and... well, the baby's going to need their daddy because you're going to be the most wonderful father ever. I know you will," she whispered.
