Quirinus Quirrell: Growing Old
Q stands up. “A very astute man once made the observation: ‘What a drag it is getting old’. And I have to say I agree. Your body aches, your eyesight deteriorates, and you start to go deaf.” He nods at Reg. “Your clothes don’t fit and you forget things. Who wants to go through all that? Not me. No thanks.” He shakes his head. “Growing old gracefully is an oxymoron if you ask me. Not that I want to live forever,” Q frowns. “I don’t think I would anyway. Unless it would be possible to read everything I wanted to before I died.” He sighs. “No, I just don’t see how that could work. I think living forever would be bloody boring. I got a few extra years, even though I didn’t ask for them. I’ll take what I’ve got and hope I die before I get old. Or at least before I start to wear my pants on my head.” He sits back down, brooding.

	"It is sort of an odd name isn't it?" Q asks. "Almost Indian. American Indian, I mean." He blinks, having forgotten what they were talking about for a moment. "Oh! You mean getting old being a drag? "It's different enough to be interesting but not so different that it's weird. At least people can figure out what it means. And pronounce it." Q makes a face.

Q considers for a moment, then closes his eyes. "Dum dum da da dah, da da dadada dum dum dada da," he begins, tapping on the table. "I can't get no, satisfack-shun," Q sings. "I can't get no, satisfack-shun. 'Cause I tried, and I tried and I tried and I tried! I can't get no! I can't get no!" He stops and opens his eyes, raising a questioning eyebrow?

Q's brow wrinkles. "They say Ee-an-toe?" he asks. "Or eye-ahn-toe?" He grins. "You know, I never realised how many different wrong ways there are to say your name."

Q mock-collapses in his chair with relief. "For a minute I was going to think you weren't human. Though that's not quite fair. Lots of wizards haven't heard of the Rolling Stones. Pure-bloods anyway."
