Location: Their flat
Status: In progress
Summary: Rose did something spontaneous for the first time in her life. Or maybe the second time.
She hadn't meant to do it, honestly. She was going about her typical day - open Flourish & Blotts, work for a few hours, walk down to Ollivander's to have lunch with Hugo - and that's when it happened. Rose had been passing the Magical Menagerie on her trip back to the bookstore when she happened to glance in the window and lock eyes with the most adorable creature she'd ever seen. He wasn't anything special, just an abandoned kitten the store owner had found in an alley on their way into work that day, but Rose was enamored and after negotiating a small price she walked out of the Menagerie with the little tabby feline cradled in her arms. The remainder of her shift at work was spent sitting near the front of the store, watching for potential customers and stroking the small fluffy bundle that sat on her lap. She hadn't really considered Lily's reaction until she started to make her way upstairs to their flat but decided that could wait - Lily could tell her what she thought of it when she arrived. Rose opened the door and promptly placed the kitten on the floor, sitting down beside it.
"What should I call you?" She mused aloud, scratching the unnamed cat behind his ears. He purred in response, and Rose pursed her lips. "Something literary, maybe Shakespearean?" The kitten made a small meowing sound and Rose took that as a positive response. "Maybe I'll call you Prospero, I always did enjoy The Tempest." Prospero responded with another meow and Rose beamed. "I should check the kitchen to see if we have anything you can eat." She trusted that there wasn't much harm the kitten could do to the flat if she turned her back for just a minute or two, and she stood and walked into the kitchen.
