A good crowd had turned out for the egg hunt at the park. There was a five dollar entry fee, but that was a good deal for this sort of affair. Several local businesses had helped to fund the event to help keep the entry fee low, and many were also helping supply the prizes. There was a wide range of prizes, including many local business gift certificates for restaurants, spas, shops, even one for Nexus. There were take-home prizes of different goods, including gourmet food baskets, alcohol, event tickets, even some appliances. All the sturdy plastic eggs hidden around the park contained paper vouchers for what had been won, to be redeemed at the end of the hunt at a tent set up where the egg hunt tickets had also been sold.
The rules were simple, though likely not easily enforceable. Fighting over eggs could lead to ejection from the hunt. It wasn’t advertised, but was widely known that many people came to this hunt knowing that powers were optional, if someone has an advantage and wanted to use it, they could. There was also a limit of twenty eggs, though it was doubtful that many, if anyone, would get that many themselves. The eggs were hidden all over, some in plain sight, many not. Anyone with the ability of flight would no doubt see several high up in the trees and in other hard to reach places.
The crowd was restless as the clock would down toward the start time for the hunt. Finally, with a loud blast from an air horn, the hunt had begun. The crowd scattered in every direction, everyone wanting to get as many chances for one of the more sought-after prizes as they could.
