PERSONALITY

Allison has always had a good intuition. She's always known when to turn the other cheek, to let her parents have their moments, she's known when to let things go, when - and who - to push on a particular issue. It has been part of why her parents were so easily able to hide the hunters life from Allison. Now that she knows all the details, Allison refuses to hide under the covers, to be the pathetic little girl who cries for help whenever danger arises. She strives to be powerful, strong. Her greatest fear is being weak, and yet that’s exactly what she feels like right now.

Allison is headstrong in all aspects of life. Be it obtaining a certain skill or boyfriends, when she figures out how to get what she wants, she goes for it. Allison has always been the athletic type. Her petite figure may give cause to underestimate her, but this girl is strong and flexible and uses every bit of her talent to her advantage.

Despite her desire to win, Allison is the type of competitor with good sportsmanship. She doesn't step on toes, and she never opts for something she doesn't feel that she has earned fair and square. Eight years competing in gymnastics has taught Allison how to be compassionate and how to dispel cruelty. It’s also instilled in her a self discipline at a young age.

After years of dealing with her parents "don't want to talk about it" attitudes when it came to why they were moving or what they were moving for, and then from dealing with having to learn local cultures again and again, Allison is good at picking up on cues in body language. Once she has all the facts, she's quick to put two and two together. Because of this, she can read people extremely well, even if she never discusses things with that person verbally.

Allison isn't like her family. She knows when she's done wrong and she's willing to take on her responsibility for whatever wrongs she has committed. She cares about the fact that she has done wrong to people in her past, she just doesn't know how to make up for it right now. She's not entirely sure she wants to, because she’s been wronged too. Until she can figure it out, Allison is distancing herself from the people she loves. She doesn't want them to get hurt again, least of all because of something she had done to them.

After being lied to her entire life, by people who were supposed to protect her, she's constantly second guessing what she knows, and who she can trust. Her mind set right now is that people lie to get what they want. They make sacrifices out of the innocent and they twist the truth until you only hear what they want you to. She is constantly questioning whether the knowledge she has gained right now is the truth, or if it’s been tainted somehow. She wants to be in control of her perception of reality, but she realizes that she might have to reinvent that perception first.

History

For 17 years Allison's family has never been in one place for more than a year. This was San Francisco, which will always feel like home to her. Because there wasn't really a point in making a lot of friends, Allison has never tried very hard to make them. She took on hobbies that were independent, like art and poetry, constantly trying to find herself and find something that she was good at that could then define who she saw herself as. She wanted to be something more than someone for a very long time. She wanted labels, a box she could fit in.

It was her mother who steered her towards Gymnastics. She was pushed into competing, and in every state they visited, her mother always entered her into competitions. Later on, her parents urged her to get into archery. She took it on and found that it was one of the things she was naturally good at. She kept at archery and picked it up again when she learned of the underground “real world” that encompassed the supernatural.

Winning awards for archery and competing in gymnastic competitions overshadowed the sting from her parents’ less than favorable responses to her other hobbies. Her art wasn’t very good, and they didn’t see it going anywhere. Her pottery never really churned out conceivable pots - and wasn’t that what pottery was supposed to do? She was never really good at anything, not until archery, according to her parents.

Beacon Hills was different. She was promised it would be longer than a year. She decided to pack up her hobbies and all the things she wanted to be and try being herself for a change; the only time that it would matter - since it was longer than a year. She decided to meet people, to learn their names, to like them. She got a boyfriend. She got friends. And when everything seemed to be working out, it was Kate she called. Kate knew about Scott, and Lydia and Jackson, she knew every little detail of how it happened, too. It was Kate who gave her advice, not her mother. It was Kate who encouraged her to get along with these people. She never knew how intimately Kate knew this town until it was too late.

Scott actually served as a catalyst for a lot of revealed secrets. She learned her family’s secret - why they moved so much. Why Beacon Hills was different. She made a lot of bad decisions out of grief and anger. She lost sight of the woman she always wanted to be and let her emotions consume her. In the end, she felt empty more than anything else. She felt lost, as if she was floating in a void, unsure of everything - but more importantly, unsure of herself.

Sometimes, after everything had happened, she would hear a joke that she thought her aunt might find funny. She would be on the verge of punching in those numbers, to tell her aunt the joke, before she remembered that her aunt wouldn’t be on the other end to hear the joke. There would be more shared jokes, no more laughter, no more midnight runs through the city. There would be more dinners with both of her parents. Her mother would never wake her up for school again. No more packed lunches or surprise birthday parties planned even after she explicitly told her mother she didn’t want a party. Only after the dust had settled did she begin to realize that she had lost a lot more than herself in this war.

Over the summer, she began to lose pieces of herself. She isolated herself, not wanting to face what she had done to people. Not out loud at least. She didn’t dare to even think about how good that wreckage had felt at the time. How satisfying. She felt as if her removing herself from their lives would make it so she couldn’t hurt them anymore than she already had.

Then she met Glinda the summer, a neutral party that could steer her back onto the path of serenity. As the woman was a witch, Allison should have been leery of her but as she grew to trust the woman more, Glinda became a mentor to her. The relationship created a solid ground for her feet to find. Now that the ground is fully stable, she is finally ready to face people and all of the wreckage she left in the wake of her anger.
