Marvel Adventures: Avengers #39
So, after gathering up my pulls this week, I noticed I had a couple bucks to spare. I'd been thinking about picking up Blackest Night: Superman, but man, with Pet Avengers over I needed something fun. Then I had a better thought.

Positive Comics Week: A tale of Batman
Greetings, [info]scans_daily!

It's been about eight months since I discovered s_d back on LJ, and since I'm going to be busy soon I thought I'd make my first contribution now. It also fits nicely with Positive Comics Week (which is still on, yes? Till the 20th, at least?).

This is from Batman: Gotham Adventures #22. It's seven pages from a 22-page book.

(It's bigger and clearer in context, honestly)

Positive Comics Week: Stanley and his Monster
Happy Positive Comics Week! Today, I thought I'd share some scans from the brilliant Stanley and his Monster four-issue-miniseries from 1994, written and drawn by our old friend Phil Foglio.

Stanley and his Monster was originally a comic from the mid-1960s, not totally unlike a very early Calvin and Hobbes (though whether Bill Watterson ever read the comic or if the similarities are just a coincidence, I have no idea), in which an over-imaginative young boy -- the titular Stanley -- meets and befriends a big, shaggy (and pink!) monster. He keeps the monster as a "secret pet," and they get into all sorts of weird and wacky misadventures.

Foglio's revamp sets the story in the DC/Vertigo universe, and the monster is now revealed to be a demon who was kicked out of Hell for being too nice. Hey, it could happen.

Kids, monsters, demons, John Constantine-lookalikes and the Phantom Stranger under the cut )

Positive Comic Week - Stray
Title: Stray (Homage Comics, 2001, 44 pages)
Creators: Scott Lobdell and Jimmy Palmiotti (writers), Adam Pollina (pencils)
Availability: Out of Print

Repost from the old comm, but it fits the theme.

I confess, I'm a sucker for nearly any variation on the "a girl/boy and her/his dog" story, so this comic was right up my alley.

Short version: She is a wannabe actress. Her dog is possessed by an alien. And this is the kind of cartoony crack that transpires when the dog of a wannabe actress is possessed by an alien.
