So, you thought Pym/Jocasta couldn't get any creepier? You thought wrong!
Greetings True Believers! I bring you two scans from The Mighty Avengers #29. Well, we've seen some creepy moments from Hank Pym and Jocasta but this may take the cake. That and Jarvis almost loses his shit below the cut. Enjoy!

LOL at Jarvis! He's an Alpha-Butler and even he can't contain the WTFness. And he's a British butler for Odin's sake! He's been trained since boyhood to walk past the most mind-boggling "Eyes Wide Shut" shit will little more than a "Very good, Sir."

Hey mods, can we start tagging posts yet?

I almost bought this issue. Almost. Then while I was peeking through the pages, I read these two and chucked it practically the length of the aisle. Dear Writers: please stop piling on the creepy with these two. Please? 'Cause I'm already with Jarvis on the ew-factor.

Pym's a wife beater, creepy neckbearded scientist who fucks a robot, who lives in his basement, all he needs now is a WOW account and piles of Mountain Dew bottles and Cheeto bags to just complete the image.

Actually, it looks like it might be Microsoft's fancy new "looks best with our proprietary pixel-shading display algorithm" typeface. Not sure, though.

Could we . . . please call it something else?

Like the creepline?

Oedipus cord?

Incestual Communication Kable (ICK)?

What do you want to call it, Jarvis? Obviously Not A Replacement For Other Slightly More Stable Relationships Filament?

"And he's a British butler for Odin's sake! He's been trained since boyhood…"

Avengers #54 (original series) explained that Edwin Jarvis was actually a poor kid from Brooklyn. It's subsequently been stated that he left home to join the Canadian Royal Air Force and ended up in Britain. Presumably the idea there was to rationalize why some writers erroneously give him a "British" dialect…but the real reason is that lazy-ass writers who can't be bothered keep confusing him with Alfred!

Ah, EVERYONE is from New York in the Marvel Universe then, or at least lives there for a spell.

Even Storm, via Harlem when she first moved to the States.

ROBOTMAN (after sixteenth beer): That Jocasta chick was eff eye inn ee fine, totally tapped that, but damn if she didn't have too many issues with her grandfather. That's major-league screwed up, there. I could understand it if it was with her father, that's Ultron, gotta respect Ultron, he's the robot equivalent of David Bowie, except, you know, completely evil, not just aging British rocker evil. And it's still in the same species, not that robots have specieses, but you know. Jocasta having a weird hang-up on Ultron, that would at least be understandable, 'cause they're both robot. Sure, Ultron built Joey, built her to be his bride, but she's not fixated on Ultron, she's stuck on Hank Pym. The guy who made the guy who made her. And . . . he's human! I don't have a problem with meatbags, always good for a laugh, meatbags, but that's several kinds of crazy there. She's a robot . . . with a thing for a human . . . and not just any human, but the guy who made the guy who made her! I don't even want to open the can of expired lubricant that is. That. That is. That. Is that. That is that. Bitches, man. Can't believe 'em sometimes. I'm better off without her. I miss her so much.

::indecipherable bawling::

err... I kind of like it?

Yes, it's creepy. But they keep POINTING OUT how creepy it is. Which makes me think they're going to do something with it and aren't just creeping us out for the hell of it.

And didn't Vision have Simon's dead brain påatterns too or something?

So, in an attempt to make Hank Pym more interesting, they kill Janet, have Hank assume her hero name, and start banging a robot that with her brainpatterns.

At first, Jean and Jan's deaths, Wanda's psychosis, and the Spider-marriage retcon lead me to believe Marvel editorial was misogynistic. Now I'm not sure what to call it.

OK, now that I'm done shuddering over the shippy creeptasticness, two questions.

1) What exactly is Hank hoping to learn/accomplish by going macro?

2) Why are there birds in Hank's lab? why do birds...suddenly appear...every time...you are neeear?

Given he has grow to giant size using his own powers for years, and larger than he appears to hit here, when did growing large enough to pierce the "Macroverse" come into play.

And isn't OUR universe the Macroverse (as opposed to the Microverse), which would make where he's going what.. the Megaverse?
