WTF is this? Why is it every time someone puts on a new or different batsuit we get this same tired "this isn't your fight" argument? And coming from Babs it's especially lame since she got it at Steph's age from Bruce.

Steph has screwed up more times than I can count, and she's barely competent from just looking at the previews!

Honestly, it makes sense that the Batclan would police their own. If Steph screws up wearing their symbol, it's their ass too.

Babs is REALLY not coming over well in these pages. Given her own start as Batgirl, and the fact that Steph is significantly more experienced a crimefighter than Babs was at that age, she's just coming over as immature and annoying "I'll tell your mommy on you" just doesn't cut it coming from Oracle, who has known Steph for years.

This is honestly, like, kind of unpleasant to read, for me. Babs is acting like a child, and idk, I just don't care for that at all.

Also Steph? You seem to have some sort of yellow thing on your head that is definitely not hair and has the consistency of silly string. Might want to get that checked out.

But isn't this just more of Angry!Babs we saw last issue? Babs is jealous that Steph is Batgirl. Can't blame the girl but angry, angsty Babs vs. sunny spunky Steph is okay for maybe an issue but the relationship is going to have to evolve.

I always get distracted by stupid stuff. How does the wheelchair get into the car? I imagine the driver's seat is modified so it can plug in, as we don't see Bab's crawling from the trunk back to the front of the car, but the headrest in the car is totally different than the one on her wheelchair.

Did they just stop talking for 5 minutes while Steph silently helped her into the car? Is there some kind of sci-fi technology where she puts the chair in the trunk, then the seat like moves back to fetch her and slides forward again?

So many stupid questions!

Like many I don't like how Babs is being here. It's like she's purposely being portrayed as bitchy to make Steph sympathetic.

Also, we see the first clue of the Batcave as the Babs' new center of operations (I think Miller has said this will be the case). Which leads to the questions: Does Steph still not know Bruce Wayne was Batman (even when she was Robin she didn't know)? And Wayne Manor is private property. Does Oracle have a key or has it been completely abandoned (since in the Outsiders, Alfred closed the Batcave off to even Bruce's former Outsiders team after his death)?

And I wonder if Steph was wondering if SHE ever got her costume retired after her "death" (we know she didn't). I assume she thinks Batman believed her really "dead" (right?) so it wouldn't be a totally off-the-wall question to ask.

So, what are we supposed to get from this? "Women are useless as crimefighters?" How about all the other junk Black Mask told Steph while he was torturing her? Or what Babs first told Misfit, which seemed to be concern over Misfit "wearing her colors" (not Bruce's, her's) more than anything else. And keep in mind, Misfit has actual powers.

Is the only reason Huntress has gotten slack (not much, but some) from Team Bat is because she doesn't wear a bat on her chest?

I'm still upset about Cass and hope she gets worked back in somehow, but I like Steph and Babs and the idea of them working together... not to mention I'm digging the art... but like others have said, this comes off as patronizing in a familiar and annoying way.

Even though it's rather immature, Barbara's, "I'll call your mom" thing reminded me of one of the main reasons I really don't like Steph. Basically I can't believe how utterly horrible Spoiler has been to her mom. I remember people posting scans from Robin when she showed up again and I was all like, "Oh, she's back. I don't like her, but everyone else seems to, so that's cool for them." And then I got to some scans where Tim was mad at her about the whole faking her death thing and then we found out that she hadn't told HER OWN MOTHER that she was alive and back in Gotham. Even worse, if I remember correctly, Tim had to MAKE HER go to the hospital to see her mom. I can't even imagine doing something that cruel to any of my family. And you could make the argument that she didn't tell her that she was in Africa because she wanted to protect her in case someone suspected she was alive, but there is no excuse to not tell her when she is back in Gotham, active in costume again, and using her real name. That whole thing just made me really think that Stephanie is extremely selfish and doesn't think much about those who care about her.

So really, I wish Babs WOULD call her mom. Stephanie's mother (who I am assuming doesn't know that she's Batgirl) deserves to know that her daughter is once again doing something that could lead to her being killed/nearly being killed again.

I never really liked Steph, when I was first introduced to the character. Don't know why, just didn't. But over the past while, I find she's really growing on me. Being told by superhero after superhero that she's not good enough and that she doesn't belong there... that's an incredible amount pressure. When someone tells you, you're not good enough, give up, you're just dreaming - godamn, that dispiriting. Being told to give up over and over, by the people you admire and look up to - I don't know if I could withstand that, in her position.

Yeah, you could argue that her perseverance is a result of her thick-headed refusal to admit that she just doesn't have what it takes. I prefer to think that she does, but just has to work harder than most to get to the level she needs to be at. I hope Steph gives everyone the finger and makes them eat their words. Depending on how it's handled by the writer, I would actually find that inspiring.

I really want to like this comic, but this issue was... not very good. Babs is utterly unlikable, everything plays out like a cliche (especially the college scenes, complete with the obligatory 'antagonistic girl pushes our intrepid hero, causing her to drop her books and papers, and cute, future love interest helps her pick them up' scene), and the new characters introduced are dull and unnecessary.

By the end of it, I was actually glad that Cass has been essentially forgotten in its pages.
