Actually I think I can, Jono is being an immature little shit there, IMHO.

Well, no, he was playing his role in making Weapon X think he'd fallen out with the X-men.

And having enormous fun whilst doing so.

But, immature little shit isn't outside of his normal behaviorial patterns anyway. But I still love the little idiot. And want to slap him concurrently.

Actually, the entire confrontation was staged to allow Jono to go undercover at... I forget where.

I kinda want the Skrull Beatles costume to become downloadable content on The Beatles: Rock Band one day.

I think that would be completely awesome and very unlikely. I wished there had been more of the Skrull Beatles. It's such a cracky and awesome concept.

I think that the Skrull Beatles should have had their own miniseries.

And they could have had fun encounters with other Skrull groups! Like Gerry and the Fucking Skrull Pacemakers! Or the Skrull Monkees!

It's muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch better in context.

But Annihilation had a higher FUCK YEAH quotient than most 6 issue mini serieses. It gave each main character at least 2.

It's extremely squicky to me because it requires MASSIVE time compression to not be pedophilia on Warren's part.

Just the way it was handled and presented to the reader was just too weird and bad for both characters. Paige got her personality surgically removed and Warren was just so smug and unWarrenlike that even without the age issues it would've been bad.

Mostly, I just like it when Warren is single so he can be charming and flirty with everyone, and also when Paige is Paige and not a Generic Blonde Girl.

And even if she was 19, Warren was in his early 30s at this point. STILL SQUICKY.

I never actually read the comics the relationship occurred in. I just saw it and went, "But he was an adult when she was like nine years old NO NO NO BAD TOUCH NO!"

Then I took a shower and had myself a good cry.

Annnd it also started the whole "he likes them barely legal" thing for Warren. I really don't know how long it'll take, if ever, for that little stain to be rubbed out.

The age difference doesn't really get to me. The lack of personality, absence of believable chemistry, and the having air-sex in front of Paige's momma!!! however...

*shudder*

And Jubilee was 13 when she jojned Gen X, despitre being previously shown to be otherwise.

Comics can retcon all they like, we all still know it's wrong.

[info]bj_l

Except nothing was really retconned. It's long since been established that there is a sliding time scale, and the original X-Men were, what, 16 when the team formed? 13 years on would be about right. Paide was about 15 or 16 at the start of Gen X, as far as I remember.

If she was twenty five and he was thirty five there would be less of an outrage, as it was there was nothing illegal or really wrong with the situation. The ages shouldn't be the issue, the bad writing and air sex in front of her mother are the real problems.

They aged Paige up and Warren down to make the relationship barely acceptable.

And failed. You forgot that they failed to even make it barely acceptable.

Well, by barely acceptable I meant it wasn't necessarily an automatic rejection, in theory.

When did they do that? Three years the start of Gen X and her joining the X-Men sounds about right, they had a couple of 'gaps' of time along the way, like the six month jump.

And Marvel's stupid belief used to be that it had always been 10 - 13 years since the Fantastic Four formed, which would put Warren anywhere from 26 - 29. It should be at least fifteen, I know.

Hmm... After the previous F-yeah post and some Jono awesomeness, I wondered why I disliked him.
Now I remember.
"We're not together anymore because of my dickness, so I can make out with other women, but she can't make out with other men than me!". Colossucks-like despicable attitude.

Skrulls Beatles. I barely know the Beatles, but I like the idea. Too bad Cornell killed them.

(also I need to read the rules about posting scantrad and make a manga f-yeah post)

True.

Doesn't make the fact that Jono's a bit of a jerk to women go anywhere :P It's not like he goes around treating everyone with horrible misogyny or anything, but it's one of his failings that he needs to work on.

I really *really* wish I had scans of the human bullet bit from Immortal Iron Fist.

Danny *could have actually died in that sequence and it would have been a great send-off for Iron Fist.

The fact that he survived just makes it even MORE of a fuck yeah moment.
