Amazing Spider-man 605 preview.

It seems that Aunt May is pissed off at Aunt May for something. well lets see what next week issue has in store for that. Here's the 2 pics in the cut and the rest of the preview. http://www.newsarama.com/php/multimedia/album.php?aid=30668

This is just...really, really stupid. Mainly because right from the beginning we weren't told WHY Peter and MJ split, but we were told, from Peter himself, that it was his fault. So why in the world would Aunt May be upset with MJ? Also, they've shown that MJ knows that Peter is Spider-man and seem to be implying that she remembers other things as well, so the, "If I wanted to play the wife..." line really irks me. Mary Jane LOVED being married. She had actually stated before that she loved being married. The whole POINT of One More Day was that Peter and MJ's marriage was so awesome that the freaking DEVIL wanted to take it away from them. So please stop showing MJ as the party girl type who wants to hook up with big movie star studs instead of being "tied down" by being married. I could rant a lot more, but I think I'll stop for now...

That's MJ? Wow I thought they canceled Spider-man since #545 and the Spidey characters never appeared in any titles since.

To be honest, the "party-girl" MJ hooking up with bozos is something I've been dreading since she came back. Especially if she does remember the marriage and is using her "image" as a movie star/model to get over her grief. I can totally see Queseda and Co. doing that. The thing is - presenting MJ as a sympathetic loving figure and Peter as a douche will just make readers look fondly on what Queseda doesn't want them to - the marriage. So, yeah, I feel nervous about what the "Rape Is Not Rape but really Romantic Comedy" writers are going to do to her.

And also - I know the feeling (about the ranting part). Bad writing always does that, doesn't it?

The non existent hair on the back of my neck went up the moment she came back. I knew from that instant that Joe Q and co. were going to ruin her. I also get the feeling that just because she is a glamorous supermodel/actor people just see her as the type to just go around partying, sleeping with big, hunky model guys, acting selfish or some other thing.

It reminds me of how Quesada made MJ the one who actually says "Yes" to Mephisto, essentially throwing her character under the bus so people mad about the deal could blame her--"See, she didn't really WANT to be married anymore, yadda yadda, it's always the woman's fault."

oh, please. Anyone with a brain could see she was taking the bullet for her husband.

They both come across as looking pretty shitty - Mary jane because Quesada clearly wanted to throw her under the bus for actually saying "yes" to the deal, but also Peter, for essentially passive-aggressively GUILTING Mary Jane into being the one who said "yes." It was an odd moment of an unintentionally unreliable narrator managing to tell a truth about the characters that even the writer didn't want revealed - the story was SUPPOSED to leave Peter free and clear of guilt, but it actually SHOWED him being a manipulative little bitch, and since Quesada has flatly stated that this was the version of Peter with which HE PERSONALLY could identify ... well, you do the math.

I'm hoping "who remembers what" will be at least partially answered. I remember someone (Dan Slott?) saying we'd learn what MJ whispered to Mephisto in 2009.

So why in the world would Aunt May be upset with MJ?

It could be May just *thinks* it's somehow Mary Jane's fault, as May no longer knows Peter is Spider-Man. Peter proposed to Mary Jane, Mary Jane said no and moved to California. Sounds like MJ's fault to me.

And what Peter remembers about who knew his secret identity before Civil War... well, if the Spider-creators don't care, then I don't care.
