It's funny because they teased the idea of a Buffy/Xander hookup earlier in the issue with much layered dialogue and meaningful looks and touchy feely and, of course, then pulled it away with this moment. I'm not sure whether Buffy's supposed to be developing feelings for Xander at this point, thus the shock, or if it's just the sheer wrongness of it.
