What Is Daken's Favorite Game? Gay Chicken.
Greetings True Believers! Here are four scans from (Dark) Wolverine #77. In which Daken screws with Ares and Venom for the grander purpose of screwing with Osborn. Daken's just on one of his missions in the Marvel Universe, to make people feel uncomfortable and awkward! Enjoy!



Ares is working is working out and Daken messes with him.









On the next page Daken thinks, "With his hands." As Ares tries to whack him with the weights. Then...




Is that the popcorn trick?





I posted this scans because I love Venom's facial expressions in pages 3 and 4. And despite Daken being a very silly character, I'm enjoying the art and lines in Wolverine right now. The fight scenes have a real sense of movement.

::fullbody shudder:: Well, the uncomfortable thing's sure as hell working, 'cause I'm definitely skeeved. Venom's "Ew, ew, ew, he touched my food!" face in the last panel is hilarious, though.

I love the last page because of Venom's face but also for the fact that he's just eating popcorn, since we usually see him eating...you know...people. But maybe the popcorn has Soylent Green topping on it, who knows.

Oh, and looking up at the scan again, I just noticed that Venom is watching Oprah. Bahahahahaha.

I love that Max's teeth are still super long and pointy, even though he's just eating popcorn.

My love for Daken being a manipulating creeper grows with each issue of this. Also Bullseye's continual confused UST and Max being uncomfortable is amazing. I almost feel bad for them, but then I remember they're all murdering psychopaths.

The scene with Ares is the first time I've seen Daken use a method to unnerve someone that went beyond some varation of 'You're gay! Neener neener!'.

I hereby decide that Daken is my new favourite character. He is ridiculous and further, he is ridiculous.

Also his 'mutant powers' are super creepy, but so are Rogue's and I never held that against her.

All right, so this (the gay undertones and the sheer awesomeness of Venom) maaay have finally pushed me over the edge. I'm interested.

Can any SD-veterans recommend a starting point for reading about Daken?

My only exposure to Daken has been through s_d, so from looking at these scans, I don't see what everybody hates about him.

I would have to say I am very surprised. With all the BS in orbit around Woverine,Daken has turned out to be quite interesting and well written.
