The question I would have asked myself, were I a juror, would be whether or not this lunatic in the witness box was even capable of doing the things that Luthor was accused of? I mean, the guy's screaming and gibbering and drooling and ranting and raving, and generally acting like someone who belongs in a booby hatch. I've heard of mad scientists, but not THIS mad - that guy looks like he barely has the self-control necessary to keep from wetting his pants, let alone committing the level of crimes of which he's being accused. Sure, he may have been 'working under the direction of Happersen', but come ON - you'd still need a brain in half-workable condition to follow orders like that. As far as I'm concerned, it's a very weak defense. A nice Luthor moment at the end, though, with him casually tormenting a guy who thought he actually WAS serving the cause of justice.
