Batman can also take down three at once without blinking.
Thing about skrulls is that, while sometimes you do a Lyja sort of thing, the way we throw the term around in re: Marvel stories is "this OOC behavior is due to a skrull impersonator." The foundation of SECRET INVASION, even before all the manufactured superskrulls were dropped in our laps, was that any hero might be a skrull. Some heroes are very powerful, requiring any long-term impersonator to be equally so. All heroes require an impersonator who's able to ape their powerset. Which is the one thing martians are repeatedly used for in the DCU - J'onn masqueraded as Bloodwynd for kind of an absurd amount of time, the martians in the aforementioned Morrison arc presented themselves as an alternate Justice League, with a speedster, a strong guy, etc.
Suddenly revealing that the reason Jericho's being ridiculous is because he's actually an impostor, for instance, would work quite well with a white martian. Mind control + invisibility = the appearance of the usual "contact" shtick. You couldn't actually do that with a skrull, so really it should be easier for DC to do the imposter-retcon than it is for Marvel.
If that still doesn't sell you, though, there's always durlans.
