Some Ghost Rider and some beautiful Dustin Nguyen art
Been a while since I posted. I just started reading through the most recent volume of Ghost Rider.

The context. Bit's of Satan's soul are going around and infecting the recently deceased, making mayhem and getting all up in Johnny Blaze's grill. This particular bit is inhabiting the body of minor Spider-Man villain Jack O' Lantren, who has all his villain gear in addition to satanic powers. And he decides to raise himself a little hell.

Armies of the undead are a little trickier to lead then you'd suspect.

By the time next issue rolls around, he's managed to get them to the house where Blaze is staying.

Ghost Rider does not. But we do.

BONUS: A completely out of context page from RUN.

And since there's been so much (completely deserved) love love for Nguyen's art on this journal, I figured I'd post my favorite bit of art from him to date.

Next time: Maybe some more TMNT, or maybe some of of the better moments from Bryne's Generations. Don't know yet.

"NEXT: That is a 26-dimensional hypergriffin."

That is also the most badass statement ever.

So is this from the current Ghost Rider run, with Jason Aaron, I think it is? Because I'd seen that in stores a few times, and it actually looked pretty good, so I planned on getting it in trade - Any opinions?

Also, as I've said before and my icon indicates, much love here for Nguyen. I've always loved his depiction of Ivy, especially the fact that she's barefoot, which I wish other artists would take on board. I also love the fact that Kate seems to be really into it, which makes sense, given her preferences.

It's actually from the earlier issues by Danial Way. Both his run and Aaron's are pretty good and dang enjoyable. I stayed away from the Aaron issues for a while because I thought they were verging on Swamp Thing rip-off (Hey, you're not really a demon! Hey, there's a bunch more Ghost Riders! Hey there's a war in the afterlife!), but the focus in Ghost Rider is much different. Worth picking up, I'd say.

I felt the first run was a touch simpleminded. It's not Lucifer here. Takes a more than a bit of suspension of disbelief. The OMG spirits of vengeance are EVERYWHERE run was not good IMHO, but the portrayals of them was awesome. The current run ain't bad and had bits of feminism that did not embarrass me for the new Caretaker.

*CACKLE!*

"You! Walk around it! AROUND! ...oh for -- "

Proof that an army of zombies is only cool in theory.

It's especially funny if you've ever played the Mastermind class in the City of Villains game. You can choose Zombie minions and they are endlessly annoying to try to lead somewhere, exactly in this fashion.

Wow, I didn't realize Ghost Rider was so funny. I feel bad for barely noticing it before.

The redhead pic is funny because of how much Kate is enjoying it and how bored Medusa looks to have all these people laying on her hair (because all of the unaccounted for hair is obviously hers). Kory looking a little too white, though.

And poor Jack, never can catch a break!

Jack o' Lantern is doing the whole Black Hand schtick now? Interesting. Any explanation of that?

She just said it was Satan in Jack's dead body. Also since when does Black hand have a monopoly on raising the dead?

Oh god, I love that stuff with the zombies-

...

...

"I have an idea?"
"What's that, Mr. Artist?"
"I want to draw every red-headed even remotely mainstream heroine I can think of lying on Medusa's ungodly long, red hair. There will be lesbian overtones."
"...I'll get you a pencil."

I love the 'Me! Me! I wanna go!' moment with the zombies. (Also, this is why TRADITIONAL zombies are usually thugs or farmhands instead of undead armies - they're MINDLESS. You ever tried coordinating a mindless army? Well, me neither, but I bet it's exasperating.)
