Now, IMO, that is the right kind of terrible and horrifying. Violent, but unglorified and not too graphic.

That picture of Vader playing with that kid is sweet and utterly disturbing all at the same time. I mean, jesus. D:

She is. At one point, she fights a Tunroth hand-to-hand, and comes to a draw. Tunroth are as strong as Wookiees. As the quote heading the linked article says, "Wookiees let Tunroths win, too." (said by the Tunroth Plourr fought).

Oh, thank god. I thought she was going to be reduced to simple love-interest character or die of a broken heart. And some say the EU is all crap.

Aw, hell no. There's some shit in the EU, but anything by Tim Zahn or Mike Stackpole is generally awesome (and when it isn't, it's just pretty good). Aaron Allston is also generally awesome (he did almost half of the X-Wing Novels). Also, the KOTOR comics. And Legacy (NOT Legacy of the Force) is pretty good, too.

Yipes!

You know you're special when Darth Vader comes over to play with your toys.

I can't help feeling that the Darth didn't actually say one thing while he played with the kid.

Also, love the bloodstain effect in the gutters, but had it been me I would have had all of the stains emanating from that panel in which she hits him - like his blood was retroactively staining and tainting the story itself as it was told.

Until the 'I will be Emperor' comment, I was thinking the kid was your typical sadistic sociopath who'd do well in the Imperial military, not actually being powercrazy insane.

That scene with Vader is perfect! It's creepy without violence or gore. It's perfect because it has the reader assume what went on or did or didn't happen.

Two thumbs-up.

I'm about to post this stuff on the wraithsquadron comm. Gods, I love the X Wing Series. And this is creepy in the best way, I think.
