Wherein Franklin Richards ****s Norman Osborn in the ***
or: no, we don't get an Iron Patriot/Venom versus the Fantastic Four bit.

Gargan and the agents of HAMMER now neutralized, Osborn is left alone in the forcefield, with the Fantastic Four.

Reed's all " Get the fuck out of my house, you shot bullets at my kids " and Norman's all " Sure, okay, but I'm THE FUCKING GOVERNMENT NOW, so I can do whatever I want to you now. "

To prove his point, he draws a handgun on Richards, because he apparently thinks that guns and the good doctor's superpowers work that way now...

WHEN SUDDENLY OUT OF NOWHERE DID NORMAN GOT SHOT

funny part? that gun was shown to be a popgun beforehand. ponderous, man.

also, Norman Osborn has just been wounded by a child.

atleast they didn't make him scream his fool head off.

" I'll come in the middle of the night! Over 9000 penises, Richards! 9000 of them! Raping your children! "

(seriously, that's how ridiculous he seems right there. Also, given that most of the targets of his rage are blond of hair, I expect he'll enjoy it A LOT.)

I do love, though, that Norm's immediate reaction after being shot is to go into an angry rant. It both makes him look ridiculous and kinda threatening, in that " oh shit, being shot in the arm doesn't seem to have deterred his jackassery, has it? "

also, fucking ponderous.

still, he packs up and leaves, taking his idiot symbiote henchman and useless mooks with him.

The second half is devoted to Reed wondering what lesson he should take away from all of this, including an ominous visit from what appears to be other Reeds in the multiverse offering their help.

ultimately, what does Doc Richards decide to do?

really hope he doesn't invent a new science this time 'round.

bonus: speaking of Fours Fantastic, let's take a look at Planetary's wonder-hoarders the Four. by this point, we've met the flaming hothead, seen the woman who's invisible via force fields, and alluded to the genius who stretches. time to met the fourth man, the one with the rock-hard skin and the coarse speech:

damn.

OK, but the story I was talking about (and the one I'm pretty sure sinisterlink was referencing) was "It's a good life" by Jerome Bixby, which was also turned into an episode of The Twilight Zone. You can read the short story here. It's about a kid who has God-like telekinetic/telepathic/teleporting/tele-whatever powers, and inflicts horrible punishments on people any time they're not being "nice".

Oops. My bad. Well, the references sounded like they could have applied to "Children of the Corn" as well, in my defense. The "Twilight Zone" episode sounds unbelievably creepy, too, though.

The "very good goblin you must never go near" reminds me of the Lords and Ladies.
