"Superman Interviews Clark Kent"

Clark Kent... lying to the Clark Kent Fan Club? Say it isn't so, Clark!

Per the Clark Kent Fan Club's suggestion, Superman has supposedly conducted an interview with Clark Kent. At least that's what Clark claims the transcript he's handed them is. Terri here wants to inquire about what the interview was like.

The interview goes fine up until a sudden volcanic eruption disturbs the proceedings.

Clark then goes on to recounts some other stuff that happened to him and Superman. But when he's finally wrapped up...

Luckily, what is the world's greatest superhero if not fast on his feet?

To prove it, Clark explains that Superman will be dropping by soon to take Clark's photograph, to go along with the interview.

Yeah, even before I became a journalist myself, shit like this made me SUPER-uncomfortable. Even by the doubious standards of "acceptable secret identy lies," Clark was kind of ethically questionable, back in the day.

there's a little ficlet, possibly by bluefall, where Perry knows who Superman really is and all the stories turned in by Lois and Clark(at least the ones about Superman) are starting to give him an ulcer. He can only justify them by how he's seen enough evidence to tell they're objective. But they're still a conflict of interest

Cute. So we're clear on this, neither Bruce, Clark nor Lois know that they know, right?

Lois thinks Perry might know, but is never quite sure. Clark disagrees, because Perry hasn't fired them, and Clark can't believe that he wouldn't. Bruce knows Lucius knows, but tells himself that he doesn't.

None that I know of, unfortunately. There are a few other Terri appearances, but they don't involve the club, only her.

Nah, though rape would be her origin. Also, boob job.

Ah, Silver and Bronze age Superman, all about the contrivances. If you were to diagram a typical plot of the time it might resemble a flow chart as designed by Rube Goldberg.

It would be a hoot if DC brought them back--and it turns out that they (at least the hardcore members) knew or suspected all along.

Clark Kent had a fan club? How many journalists have fan clubs?? did Lois have a fan club?

Admittedly Clark's a tv reporter at this stage, so it's slightly more understandable, but yes it's still crazy weird.

Actually, I've never seen Lois have a fanclub. I wonder if she ever felt left out, between the Clark Kent Fan Club and the Jimmy Olsen Fan Club? Or if the sheer creepiness of the Stalker Shrine up at the Fortress of Solitude was enough for her?

That whole bit with the photo was unnecessary, really - the whole thing could've been explained away by the simple fact that SUPERMAN HAS SUPER-SPEED. He could've easily swooped up Clark, conducted the interview with him, dropped him back off in Metropolis, and gotten to the White House with plenty of time to spare. I mean, he zips around the world every day as part of his daily routine - a quick back-and-forth from Metropolis to a Pacific island is nothing to him.

Superman might have super-speed, but Clark Kent the mild-mannered reporter wouldn't. The interview and fruit-eating would need to have happened at regular human speeds.

Well, yes, but how long would that have taken - half an hour, an hour tops? My point is that Supes can zip around the world in no time flat - he's almost as fast as the Flash, forcryin'outloud - so a leisurely interview somewhere on an uncharted island is no obstacle to his making his way back to the White House on time - even if he DOES dawdle a bit, he can be there virtually immediately, so who cares? Anyone who can travel all over the world stopping tidal waves and saving sinking cruise ships without his boss getting annoyed because he's been away too long should have no problem with a measly trip to the mid-Pacific and back.
