I've known several folks who have seriously told me that rape is a WORSE crime than murder.
Now, granted, a lot of that is mired in Creepy Male Bullshit about how Women Are Ruined by being raped, but one of my friends - who led a very questionable life in his past that I made a point not to ask about - actually came up with a semi-valid explanation for it:
"You can kill people by ACCIDENT, and you can even kill people for GOOD reasons - hell, you can even kill people and not have it be anything PERSONAL - but when you RAPE someone, there's NO WAY that it's not personal."
Granted, this puts things in a rather starkly Motives Are All light, but especially in terms of war stories, he's right - "killing someone for the greater good" is so accepted that it's one of the oldest tropes in the book, but there really is no equivalent of "raping someone for the greater good," in no small part because anyone who even suggested it would be denounced as a scary sick fuck, and rightly so.
