Blackest Night #1 The issues been posted to death but we can technically still post 2 1/3 pages more from what I can tell... so a nice two page splash from the issue.
So...who's died since Barry left and came back? Ummmm....
Wow. A lot of dead people. It's amazing looking through them all. Damn. A few that pique my interest in particular are: Harbinger who was killed by Loebsday, Pariah who's actually alive now, unless we ignore Supergirl's current run, Jean Paul Valley!, Ted Kord and Dan Garrett of course, Aztek, Hector Hall (who's body should be in another dimension) and what appears to be the first Black Canary? Also can anyone identify the guy in the upper left who has a spider motif on himself and seems to be holdingh a gun?

They better not be bringing back Hector. Besides the fact that his body's supposed to be elsewhere, I'd be pissed if he got Black Lantern'd and Daniel didn't show up.
Ugh, I'd be so displeased if Hector came back, which I would assume would mean bringing Lyta back as well, she was briefly a superhero after all, but it would posibly be kind of nice to see Dream turn up.
The man with the spider motif is the original, WWII Tarantula. John Law.
Thanks, interesting. Wikipedia says his death was kinda unclear. Guess we'll find out.
There are two male figures behind Aquaman, one above his arm and one below. Anyone know who?
The one below is Hector Hall, the one above, not sure myself. Kinda looks like Tempest or Sodam Yat.
Hector Hall (as mentioned) and Osiris. Osiris was created (and subsequently killed) in 52, he's the younger brother of Black Adam's wife Isis, and was essentially the Captain Marvel jr to Adam's Captain Marvel.
He prefers to be called the Terror of Death, thank you very much.
... I think this makes Parallax Cubia.
I like to assume the Black Lanterns are the anti existences of the Light Lanterns. Thus the power of 8 lanterns in any one Black Lanterns. Kinda like the 8 phases who equaled Cubia in GU.
And once again, effin' Kole makes the cut but Robin II does not. Poor Jason...the Forgotten Robin.
Who's the woman under Aquaman's right arm? It looks like Doctor Light to me, but she isn't dead.
There's 2 (very small) people in that projection I can't recognize - the woman (I think...may be an oddly proportioned man) between Ted Kord's head and Batman's cape (looks like she's in a GL uniform), and the woman between Dan Garret's knee and Pariah.
There are far too many people her I recognise but don't remember dying - Dr Mid-Nite? Really? I think I remember one of his assistants dying, but not him. And Black Canary I as well, though I have been trying to avoid reading Green Arrow and Black Canary, so if it was mentioned there I'd have missed it.
Woo! Pretty art! I love that Batsy's leading the charge. Although, um, isn't he not really dead but stuck in the past or something? What?

Anyone else think that the size of each projection is indicative of their importance to the overarching plot? Bats, J'onn & Arthur are HUGE while Azrael, Aztek & Rocket Red (to name a few) are teeny.

I don't like how batman takes up half the pages. How is he any more important than all the rest in death?
Well hey there, Vic! Nobody is closer to the top than you.
But when did B'wana Beast die? And who was Rocket Red 1? Dimitri was #4, and the Manhunter was #7, but I have no idea about #1.
I thought we can only post seven pages from a new book, regardless of how many pages there actually are?
Is that The Question on the top-center-right?
Anyone do a "Who is this?"

Airwave's dead? D:
Swear to god, if they do bring back Hawk and Dove, I hope it's just so they can be destroyed immediately.
Also, Black Canary the first is about to kick Vibe in the face. Which is good, but I'm just saying.
Wait wait wait. This is a splash of everybody who's died since Barry's died, right?
So why is Dan Garrett there? Dan would've died before Crisis on Infinite Earths, since Ted was involved with it. Is Hal counting that one time Dan got briefly resurrected by the Scarab and was evil?
(Also, it took me way too long to find Ted when I was reading my copy of this. Didn't realize he was totally on the fold until I finally saw his leg or something.)
come back to us, Vibe! I mean--what? |
