In the scene posted with the lab, it gave me the impression that the things in the tubes are 'blank android' shells, rather than growing clones.

That all makes a lot of sense. I guess I shouldn't have used "clone" as shorthand for "duplicate" after all.

Still makes more sense for a Clone Saga than the Spiderman version.
