GL Corps #38
4 pages from today's GLC #38.

First Soranik and Iolande talk about Sinestro's parental revelation:

Then on Oa it turns out the Alpha Lanterns, under the orders of the Guardians (who just got back from the Vega system) have begun executing prisoners involved in the riot. Say goodbye to Nero (unless he comes back as a Black Lantern):

For disagreeing with the Guardians Kyle and Guy get sent to Earth though the Guardians do agree to spare the ones Kyle promised he'd give trials to.

And the Blackest Night begins:

They spared Bolphunga. Thumbs up.

Now let's see him become the Mayor of Ranx The Sentient City, and/or the destroyer of Black Lantern B'zzd.

So...DC decided to have it's version of Marvel Zombies in its mainstream continuity.

And then give the Zombies Power Rings.

That's insane! If its in a good or a bad way only time will tell.

Because someone has to say it.

Mordru is going to be so pissed, since he thought of it first.

Of course, that was two or three Legion reboots ago, so maybe he won't even remember...

[info]trueredorion

Ahh, but Mordru DIDN'T do it first since he did it in the future and this is happening in the present so while his was published first the Blackest Night actually happened first. And given the younger JSA Mordru was seen in one of the Origins and Omens back-ups being put on trial by the Guardians the Blackest Night may in fact end up being the inspiration for his plan.

Isn't time travel fun?

I was thinking along the lines of Evil Dead myself. Imagine the King, Mr. Ashley J. Williams himself, with a Power Ring.

They need to bring back Chance, he is Ash for the DC universe. He needs to be a black lantern who goes rogue and joins up with the Corps again. Also everyone needs to remember Kilowag was the first Black Lantern (look to his story of resurrection.

Good heavens! The child of a villain pointing out that being the child of a villain has bugger all impact on THIER lives and that their adoptive parents were the REAL parents.

You can just tell that this is Peter Tomasi writing this rather than Geoff Johns, can't you?

Oh God thank you, I was just going to say this. I actually smiled when I read that. Tomasi is one of the few lights at DC doing really great work in their main universe stuff (Adventure Comics and co. are all non-mainstream universe. And thank Buddha for that.)

Too bad the female neurosurgeons I know don't dress like this. It's kinda hard commanding the patient's respect when he's staring up your skirt or down your neckline.

But yeah, Kyle's a lucky man. So long as she stays away from a camera, Soranik should be safe from the Rayner Death Penis.

Dammit, I liked Nero. I always thought he was underused or poorly used. (Even by Winick, who came up with him in the first place.)

You'd think Tomasi, of all people, would have had the sense not to whack such a potentially interesting character.

On the other hand, Blackest Night. He'll probably be back up and moving before the Alpha Lanterns can dispose of the body.

And maybe we'll finally get an artist who's imaginative enough to draw the sort of nightmare-inducing phantasmagoria that should always have been spilling out of Nero's ring.

What's this? Someone who was adopted that doesn't care about who her real parents are? And even though she finds out her biological dad is a villain, doesn't go "WE ARE RELATED BY BLOOD THIS MEANS I MUST BE THE ONE TO DEFEAT HIM" or "Maybe he's not actually a bad guy... Maybe he has a reason? PLEASE DADDY BE GOOD" Madness!

I'd like to pick this up JUST for that. You don't see adoption handled like that much in fiction. At least not the fiction I seem to read.
