Bart's been acting a lot more like Impulse since Johns brought him back.

Hopefully because he realised the Bart-as-Kid-Flash he'd subjected us to in Teen Titans was unutterably dull and lacking in any personality 99.8% of the time.

Except that Johns, as far as I can tell, wasn't in favor of that idea either, but was forced into it by editorial constraint. Or so Waid claimed, and I have no reason to disbelieve him

That seems to be more about changing him into Kid Flash (Which I agree was an inexplicable editorial decision and outwith his control), it was the complete failure to DO anything with Bart once he WAS Kid Flash which I had even more of an issue with. Teen Titans became the Kon/Cassie/Tim show, saddling us with Kory and Vic in unnecessary and never convincing mentor roles, and overlooking the two characters he'd done most to; Raven and Bart.

Waid also says "but even as Kid Flash, he was still largely recognizable as Bart", which I have to disagree with.

There were still some fun Bart moments after he became Kid Flash, like the time he crashed the Batmobile that Tim purchased on the sly using re-allocated funds from the Batarang budget.

That's the very 0.2% I was thinking of in my original post. It's also about the ONLY truly Bart-esque moment that most people could pull out of that series.

Why wouldn't he have freeze breath? Isn't it just superstrong breath, moving so fast it creates a vacuum around whatever it's breathed at, which flash-freezes it, using comic book science? Maybe he doesn't have the lungs for it.

He's only half Kryptonian, he might be lacking some specialised organ for the freezing breath.

Connor's Kryptonian powers have evolved over time. When he first appeared, he had tactile TK that mimicked a lot of Superman's powers, but he didn't actually have super-strength or flight abilities. As he's gotten older, his Kryptonian powers have kicked in. There's a nice segement during Johns' run on Teen Titans where the kids are arguing with their older counterparts and Connor's heat vision works for the first time and he accidentally burns Superman's cape.

IIRC, Supes (and Kara and Karen) super-compress the air inside their lungs and expel it forcefully. The sudden expansion of the compressed air is what freezes things.

Check your privacy settings. For some reason, Adventure comics only show up for me if I (temporarily) shut my adblocker off. No idea why.

Heh, smashing the statue is so cool, it's almost metacommentary. I want to see how Bart's statue goes.

That better be freshman Clark getting shoved around by a senior bully - Clark's never been scrawny, he better be much younger than the other guy.

So now Clark joined the Legion as Superboy. I thought that was gone after the the big Crisis.
