I can't think of anyone who deserves it more. Go Magneto!

Also, I like how they slyly absolve/don't implicate Red Skull in the real world Nazi crimes. These days, I bet writers like Millar would blame all kinds of real world evil on Red Skull, which I always found to be tasteless and lazy.

Agreed. But in this case, it's mostly because the Nazis made the Red Skull, rather then the other way around.

What do you mean? Magneto says that the Red Skull wasn't personally responsible for the death of his family, but he served Hitler and committed countless atrocities.

I think what he meant is that Skull isn't tied to any specific real-world, historical events here. It's just kept very general, which is enough for Magneto.

Damn.

You do not piss off Magneto. Having him as an enemy is one thing, even if he strongly dislikes you. But if he out-and-out hates you...

Wow.

Thanks for posting this. I know it was somewhere on old s_d, but I didn't know the title.

I liked the chemistry between Magneto and Red Skull and how it ties to the Holocaust and World War 2. It's such a shame that they didn't build up on the rivalry between these two after "The Acts Of Vengaence". You would think that after the Skull survived that he would want to get payback on Magneto for imprisoning him and I am sure that Magneto would have made another attempt to kill him seeing as how he survived his first one.
Plus, I would love to see what Magneto thinks about Norman Osborn's rise to power and that whole Dark X-Men sticht.

Aww, you left out the part where the Controller shows up out of nowhere trying to attack Magneto and he gets his clunky blue ass handed to him.

Reminds me of that short story in a recent anthology book, where Magneto kills a nazi mutant, just because he used to be SS.

Badass.

I seriously need to read the Gruenwald run of CAP. Would that it would be collected. I guess I'll need to track down the back issues.

Also, just how awesome is Kieron Dwyer? Between this and the Batman/Riddler story, DARK KNIGHT/DARK CITY, he's one of the few artists who did amazing work even when printing and coloring techniques were at their shittiest.

The Gruenwald run has so many great moment in it, from Steve's career as a cartoonist, to the Serpent Society, to Steve and Rachel's wonderful first date, where they have the least likely guardian angels imaginable.

While I've been trying to stick strictly to trade paperbacks, I may actually have to scour the back issue bins for this run. Especially since I keep running into people who think Cap is a lame character.

I'm a DC boy and all, but this continued misconception shall not stand.

And this is why Magneto remains the preeminent Badass of the MU.

If they'd listened to him a while back, Norman Osborn might not be sicking goon squads on everyone now.

This was a good section/run of Cap as I recall.

Wait... if Magento hates the Nazis so much, why hasn't try to kill off all those who worked for those SOBs rather than picking a fight in San Fran and leave?

If all he left the Red Skull was water, what was Magneto's plan? To let him starve to death or to release him after a relatively short time? Making the Red Skull suffer before killing him is pretty reasonable. After all, he is the Red Skull. But making him suffer before releasing him is just going to make him mad, especially since he's probably going to be wearing ten gallons of urine when he's released. (Magneto did magnetize the fly on the Red Skull's pants so he can't get them off and relieve himself in the corner, right?)
