Barack the Barbarian! Greetings True Believers! I picked up Barack the Barbarian #1 today and it is amusing. It hit me right in the Conan-fanboy part of my brain. It's an entertaining tale with familiar faces in new and strangely true roles. So enjoy!

Now the Barbarian must enter the wicked city of Warshingtun!

Many take notice of Barack's entry into the city. Among them, "Manny the Fixer" and "Hilaria and the cult of Biil."
Also taking notice is the evil Despot Boosh and his eviler Vizier Harry Burden! They decide to send Elephant Cultists to kill him.
Manny the Fixer and Barack are eating at tavern, (insert Dijon joke) and who walks through the door.....

Fight scene!
Then Manny and Barack escape through the back and travel to a temple. That this point, the narrator is revealed to be a elder of an ice village recounting a myth to children. Funny oil jokes follow.
Barack and Manny travel to the "Great Mall" to meet someone at a "temple."

And they meet....

Hilaria and Barack join forces but H's elite cadre of Amazons are pissed and go "We signed on to put a woman in the tower, not another set of gonads!" Some leave to join Red Sarah.
Boosh has a mysterious "goddess" locked in his tower. Barack, Red Sarah, Manny, Hilaria, the Old Warror and the Amazons must now battle through the "Labyrinth of Pundits!" to reach the tower.
Next time, True Believers!

I swear, I am so sick to death of Barack Obama it is stunning! It hasn't even been that long since he was sworn in and it already feels like 8 years! The man is EVERYWHERE!
Of course, no comics company (at least no mainstream one, or one with mainstream aspirations) would dare present a president on the Right side of the spectrum this way, they might bring protestors down on themselves, as God knows, the right are all vicious evil war-mongers.

Yes, poor Republicans. It's not as if they had control of all three branches of government for twenty-one out of the last twenty-nine years, as if they got to set the country's domestic and foreign agenda, or started any wars. How dare those treasonous comic book companies serve as some of the only real opposition (the mainstream media long since having given up that responsibility)?
Methinks you don't quite get the joke.
Barack Obama is a big Conan the Barbarian fan.
Ha. Ha. ha.
Or maybe, just maybe, they're representing a president from the Left this way because they agree with his opinions?...
I think it's precisely because he's been so overexposed that stuff like this comes about - Obama has practically become a character in his own right. This is more a satire of 'Obama the Legend' than a direct celebration of it (although I think it's pretty clear that whoever wrote the thing is on his side.) And frankly, the fact that most of the prominent rightwing politicians for the past eight years HAVE basically been 'vicious evil warmongers', to the point where their own party said 'enough's enough', should provide a pretty good reason why none of them got a comic like this. They didn't deserve one, and anyway, they were parodied by pretty much everyone already.
They actually made this?
Like, for real?
Actually, as a European I giggle a lot at this. Gah, I find myself amused by a Conan version of American politics...
YESSSSSSSS!!! This is so awful, I absolutely must have it!
*is unspeakably horrified*
Haw! I love this. No, seriously, I do.
So it's a bizarre liberal screed in comic form. So fucking what? The conservatives already got something similar (that crazy comic I read about where conservative talk show hosts save America from liberalism). We on the left can have one too.
Sarah Palin in a Bikini? Ohhh yeah! Hillary Clinton? Not so much. As a German I hope nobody make a comic like this about Angela Merkel (our chanceloress)
Who drew this? Minus the cover it looks like someone trying to do Josh Neufeld.
Christopher Schons is the artist and Rachelle Rosenberg is the colorist.
The cover was done by Tom Seeley and RR.
That is amazing and I want it.

I've been laughing too hard to comment for five minutes now. For the love of Pete please let there be these still in stock tomorrow.
Also..I can't help but find chainmail!Palin hot. Sorry. The wolf neckscarf only ties it in more.
That's a motto on the second part.
I've said it since she first showed up on the national stage, she's got an "Evil MILF" thing going on.

Booyah!
I called my LCS And they have only 1 left! Have it on hold for tomorrow, but it's not the rare Palin variant, instead is the standard cover with Barack in a Conan pose with Michelle at his feet.
Pure awesome. I will place this next to my copy of Superman At World's End with great pride. The box will likely implode from sheer crackness.
Ah... wow.
I really cannot think of anything to say.
