Well, to be fair, all this 'evil Cass' business that went on has kind of enforced a distance between them - not to mention that she hung out with Oracle for a long time, so the Clocktower is really more of a home to her than the Batcave has ever been. That being said, however, I'm afraid the current dismissal of Cass has nothing to do with how the writers feel about her - it's editorial policy. After all, there's going to be a 'new' Batgirl in a month or so, and we can't have the oooooold Batgirl hanging around and cluttering up the works, can we? I think Didio just wants us to forget Cass entirely so that, whether or not she remains Batgirl, the appearance of Batgirl Mark 3 will remain a surprise. It's a sloppy damn way to use a character - it's editorialism as sensationalism, or, more appropriately, as leaping out of the bushes going 'Boo!' and trying to startle us.
