Captain America

Given today's news about the Reborn story arc kicking off with CA #600 (which is for sale NOW, not Wednesday), I thought I'd post one of my own favorite Cap pages.  It's not really one that I think would have qualified for One Perfect Moment, but it is a very powerful one.

The 9/11-Pearl Harbor comparison doesn't fully work for me. Pearl Harbor was at least a preemptive strike against a military target. 9/11 was not.

It's not about the politics. It's about the emotional impact. Ask someone old enough to remember 12/7/41. Which I'm not, but I did ask some folks who were.

The effect was the same, though. It's not like the U.S. lost a fight. America was caught off guard, and shaken to the core as to how vulnerable the nation was despite it's international good will and standing with most of the major powers. It was a painful blow to the confidence, spirit and heart of the nation. And the world was never the same afterwards.

Ohhh Pearl Harbour. I was thinking the "twice" was a question of time travel.

Its seems like a better comparison would be the bombings of the cities in Europe during the war. I always think it's neat to see Spider Man and Captain America interact for some reason.
