Truthfully, I think I'm looking forward more to the Question feature, but that's just because I already know and like Renee Montoya, and Kate Kane is still a stranger to me.
I really want to feel confident that on the whole Rucka and JH William's work will be good, but my nitpicky-ness already has issues.
One is the weird cone-bra that strangely highlights her nipples in the interior art we've seen so far. This is always going to be a pet-peeve for me, but sports bras, people! Why are so many comic book artists completely unaware of their existence? It's especially bothersome when so much detail, thought, and practically went into the design of Batwoman's costume, and then you have that.
(Granted, it's not so bad in the pages you've posted as compared to the first preview pages that came out.)
As for the succubus thing...I take it he's sort of playing on the idea that Batman draws answers out of people by fear and violence, and that Batwoman does that too. But for her there's an added element to it in that she's a woman, and a lot of the people she's scaring are men, so there's the potential for her gender to play a factor and to use sexuality in there somehow. I mean, if you read Rucka's script in what I linked to above, it details her being attractive and seductive while being creepy and scary at the same time.
Not sure how I feel about that yet. In general though, I'm really not fond of women being called succubi.
darn it Rucka you don't need trauma to wear the Bat quit telling them that
No kidding. Especially given that he says that after mentioning Barbara Gordon, who wasn't motivated by tragedy to be Batgirl. Not to mention that Tim didn't start out with tragedy (though it followed him soon after and stuck around).
