We've had a Perfect Moment of the Trickster and several Perfect Moments of the Pied Piper; now I bring you a Perfect Moment of my third favorite Rogue, Captain Boomerang.
Like all of the Rogues, he is far more formidable than he looks (I am convinced that the Rogues all dressed that way deliberately, to make people underestimate them.) Against the Flash, he looked like one of the weaker sisters, but when Barry Allen died and the Rogues went their separate ways, we started to see just how powerful many of them really were.
George "Digger" Harkness wound up on Task Force X and actually survived the experience. In fact, his survival instincts were what made him an indispensible member of the team: Put him in a situation where his life was in danger, and he would fight like heck to get out of it -- riding on his coat tails greatly increased the chances of the rest of the team surviving as well :-P Suicide Squad did a lot for Captain Boomerang and gave his skills a chance to shine (the man could make a pie obey boomerang physics!) While he was never a hero, he did become, as one reader put it, something more than a villain.
In deciding on a Perfect Moment, I was torn between three great scenes: One, the aforementioned boomerang pie scene. Two, the scene where he steamrollers over a gang of punks who totally picked the wrong guy to rob -- but that was like an elephant stomping ants, it was so effortless, he didn't even bother to crack a joke about it. Instead, I chose this scene from Suicide Squad v1 #2.
Buddy in the headband up there is Jaculi, a low-level speedster member of the Jihad, a super-powered terrorist group out of Qurac (an entirely fictional country that in no way resembles any place in the real world, nuh uh no way, any resemblance is purely coincidental.) By sheer coincidence, the Squad happens to have a team member who's experienced in fighting speedsters, but they send Boomerbutt instead. Just kidding -- of course he was chosen first. I chose this scene because it says it all about Boomer: Hit 'em hard, hit 'em fast, and he even told the guy how to save himself.
.........And it shows just how dangerous an experienced Rogue can be, when facing someone who isn't the Flash.
