WEEK OF DOOM: Doom knows how to make an entrance.
Greetings True Believers! I bring you another WEEK OF DOOM post! These scans are the Doom tidbits from Onslaught GN #6 "Pyrrhic Victory" Doctor Doom has a several small but important roles. Just remember these simple rules during any Marvel Cross-over Crisis.

1. Doom knows how to make an entrance.

2. Doom has a plan.

3. Despite Richards' reluctance to admit it, sometimes Doom has to save those heroic fools.

4. Always keep one eye on Doom.

Enjoy!

Long story short, Xavier shorted out Magneto's mind. That connection created a third malevolent entity that called itself Onslaught. It broke free of Xavier's mind and is trying to take over the world.

(This is Joseph recounting the tale to Captain America.) Rogue and Joseph (Clone of Magneto, thinks he's the real deal) are fighting Sentinels (Onslaught's co-opted them to be his troops) and they are about to be killed when...

Now that's a entrance line!

Now we see Doom learning about Onslaught's attack. Doom likes his vino.

Time for another Doom-entrance.

Time for the final battle against Onslaught. Who has the master plan to crack his defenses? No! It's not that insufferable fool Richards!

In the words of Captain America: "Doom's plan worked!

The battle has entered it's final stage. The heroes must sacrifice themselves to save the world. Iron Man asks an important questions, "Has anyone seen Doom...?"

This will lead to Doom's adventures on the Heroes Reborn earth. (Which eventually becomes Planet Doom!)

Not quite, the heroes realised that Onslaught's energy field was designed to leech off mutant powers used to attack it (sort of), and was conversely weakened by non-mutant attacks. So the more humans who attacked it the better, though it increased their chances of being killed. Iron Man is making sure Doom contributes, whether he wants to or not.

Of course, with all the extradimensional energies blatting around the place, Iron Man is actually sending Doom to live in the Liefeld designed "Heroes Reborn" Universe. Doom would probably rather have been killed....

Wow. Didn't read this story before. So it's cool to put people into life-threatening situations by force? Uh, 'heroic'!

Frankly, I think the sight of a badly drawn, uber-hairy Wolverine attacking in his underwear ought to have been enough to make Onslaught surrender instantly.

Quite to opposite effect. Onslaught fought harder and tried to remake the universe just to get the cowboy-hat-and-boot-wearing,man-of-mystery Logan back. Keep fighting the good fight, Onslaught!

Man, this story sucked donkey cock. It started out very promising, could have been one of the very, very few good X-Men stories of the 90s, and the big X-Traitor reveal of Xavier was brilliant. Then it blew up into the ginormous lead-in to that lame-ass "Heroes Reborn" and they brought in Joseph while simultaneously trying to exonerate Professor X and blame Magneto, as usual. LLLAAAAME.
