And I don't mean that in a meta way, I mean that's an almost legitimate explanation for what's going on in the story. Everything that Grant Morrison writes of late revolves around the idea of the meta-narrative, stories about stories. The author is actually a force within the story, and bends physics to his will. Grant Morrison is a prick, so the story bends in that particular direction.
