Who is Blonde Justice? Someone familiar?

Here are a couple of pages from the recent trade Femme Noir: The Dark City Diaries, Christopher Mills' homage to the hard-boiled detective pulps of yesteryear:

On the facing page, our mysterious narrator considers three possible alter-egos for our mystery woman. Do any of them seem at all familiar to anyone but me?

So who do you think she is? If you haven't already guessed, I'm rooting for Vanessa DeMilo, and not just because that's the greatest name ever.

Like Tangent Joker I assume she's all three.

Yup, my thought too. Also the BTAS Batwoman.

Women?

THEY ALL HAVE THE SAME GODDAMN FACE!

To be fair, it wouldn't be that hard to ID her if they all looked different.

I agree with Blake, but even allowing for that, I have to disagree. Laurel clearly has much more pronounced cheekbones than the other two, but especially Vanessa, who in turn has a more up-tilted or slightly protruding chin. Vanessa also has more rounded and deep-set eyes, not to mention a prominent mole. (One missing, incidentally, from the face of Blonde Justice, but it could just be covered up with make-up.) Dahlia, meanwhile, has noticeably narrower lips than either of the other two, as well as a squarer jaw and higher forehead. (Laurel's hair conceals her forehead, so it's hard to be sure with her, but Vanessa and Dahlia both have widow's peaks, albeit on the opposite sides of their faces, and Dahlia's forehead is clearer longer.) So yes, they do have similar-looking faces, which is necessary for the premise of the story, but they are only similar, not the same.

Vanessa also has a bigger nose and eyes and thicker lips, and in general is hugely different from the other two. Honestly, I can't see how someone could think they had the same face!

I, too, was going to point to Vanessa's rounder eyes and Laurel's cheekbones. I didn't even notice the mole somehow. Their noses are also a bit different, with Vanessa's being flatter, Laurel's being a bit smaller, and Dahlia's generally "average".

Okay, Lois is easy and Helena's not a long leap, but maybe it's just the late hour and my extreme state of inebriation talking, but who's the lounge singer?

Not certain. Possibly Dinah? Y'know, the singing part alluding to the Canary Cry? But the Lois and Helena ones were pretty easy to figure out. I'm figuring... we have a lady whose counterpart is somehow involved with (romantically or otherwise) Superman and Batman, so far, so why not Green Arrow for the third? That's only my best guess at a late hour when I'm tired, though.

I was thinking Dinah between the alleged birdsong and the similarity of the name. I was really sad to read the description on the third one, because she looked enough like Babs that I was sure the three were referencing the Birds.

Selina? Or Dinah. Or composite CanaryCat...

Regarding the LCS never having it: they never will, most likely, especially now that Diamond is getting really, really hard on independent publishers at the distribution end. Ordering it is pretty much the best way to go. Those of us not at Marvel or DC are basically pleading with folks to order comics via their LCS, because there's only a 10% chance that any given new title from any indie publisher and by a non-top-10 creator will even make it as far as the racks.

This is my favourite "pulp comic" out there by a long shot. I'm also in the "all three" camp.
