Geoff Johns really doesn't care about continuity

So first they forget about Hal Jordan's real funeral and now Barry doesn't remember Jason Todd. All in one comic. If I were the middle son in the Batfamily, being treated like this? Man, maybe I'd be an anti-hero/"irredeemable villain" too!

Did Barry even know Batman's identity when Jason was robin though?

of comment note: I like how this author shows the Flash's continuous, speedy movement - it's a nice touch

Well, if he knew Dick was Robin, he should've known about his graduation to Nightwing, especially with him and Wally both being in the Titans.
Though, yeah, the blurs are pretty cool.

The blurs, and the glowiness is nice, too. I like Reis's art.

I'm not sure Jason and Barry even met pre-Crisis, though Barry should have been aware that Dick had stopped being Robin a couple of years before Crisis.

Given that Jason Todd Precrisis and Jason Todd Postcrisis are essentially different characters with different origins, this could just be saying that we should ignore the Precrisis Jason Todd stuff. (The only story of any importance this really affects is "For the Man who has Everything", and there's already been a Jason-less retelling of that story on JLU.)

My pre-Crisis knowledge is extremely low, but I am aware that around the time Dick stopped being Robin, Barry, as the Flash, was on trial for the murder of Professor Zoom. So in Johns defense, it could be argued that Barry was too preoccupied with the trial to keep track of everything going on with the rest of the superheroes.

Yeah I read that today and was like WTF ????

Next question how old is this "new" Barry Alan supposed to be ?

I recall when Hal came back he is now supposed to be like under 30 ?

Oh Jeff ,you suck...

At least he's done screwing up JSA (for now)

Screwing up JSA? I was under the impression that he was the one to revive it?

Darn right he was!

What are you talking about "Ruining the JSA"? ...

Barry probably never met Jason. It's true he appeared pre-Crisis, but very close to said Crisis. If you recall, when Flash briefly appeared in front of Batman early in the miniseries, Batman's reaction was, "But--he disappeared." Depending on how long this was(Flash fans help me here), this meant that Barry wasn't around when Jason appeared. So in fact this probably violates nothing.

Eh, even if he did know about Jason/Dick becoming Nightwing, it's not surprising that when Barry thinks 'Robin' his mind goes to Dick Grayson. He is Robin to a lot of people, even those who were around to see the progression. As far as potential continuity gaffes go this seems pretty minor and forgivable.

I wouldn't use that example, as Wally gave up being Kid Flash at the same time Dick gave up being Robin. If Barry knew of one he'd know of the other. But again, he'd stay Robin in his mind anyway.

Consider too that Batman had left the JLA and formed the Outsiders long before the Crisis. Therefore, he wasn't really much in touch with the rest of the bunch around then anyway.

The difference being that Dick took up the new identity of Nightwing almost immediately afterwards. Though Wally briefly resumed his Kid Flash career (basically to give him a costume to wear) for Crisis before becoming Flash, for the most part he was out of the loop in a way Dick never was.

I can see Barry thinking Hal's referring to Robin even if he technically knows Dick's not Robin any more. Not only would it possibly be a reflex for him to put the two together, he's connecting Dick and hope anyway, so making it fit his own pre-conceived notions.

Hal knowing Tim's name confuses me more than Barry forgetting Jason.

You want to talk about just forgetting continuity? That thing with Barry is nothing - more than nothing!

Look at Bendis FCBD Avengers Offering. The character he brought into the Avengers, Ares, is misrepresented as being Asgardian, an ally of Thor, and a subject of Thor. (He kept calling Thor "Lord Thor" ??!?!?!?!)

I can accept he might know stuff about the Twilight Sword, and even be willing to let Thor handle it - but mistaking Greek Mythology for Norse Mythology? Where was the editor to catch this? It could have been fixed with a few alteration of lines (like, you know, Ares not calling Thor his "Lord")

He wasn't being represented as an Asgardian though. They're both Gods, hence their use of "Lord" when talking to each other. They are allies in that they're both opposed to forces like frost giants and whatnot.

Where is Ares ever described as Asgardian?

an ally of Thor, and a subject of Thor. (He kept calling Thor "Lord Thor" ??!?!?!?!)

Yes, and I call people Doctor even though they're not MY Doctor. And I'd call a King "Your Majesty" even if he wasn't MY monarch.

It's a title indicating his relative position, not his direct authority over Ares.

Particularly given Thor calls Ares "Lord Ares" in turn.

I take this more as Hal being emo than a definitive statement of continuity.
