This is uncannily similar to a dream I once had - the basic situation, I mean, not the whole Deathtrap and freaky-Burton-wonderland aspect. Here's the deal - me and my parents were staying over at the house of a mutual friend, and we had brought our small dog with us. I was sleeping in a bed that was rather high up, with one of those mattresses that are full of springs. (Have patience - this WILL be relevant. I'm mentioning it now so you aren't confused later.) Anyway. So I fall asleep, as one does, and sooner or later I fall into one of those dreams that is sort-of-but-not-really a nightmare, in that it's mildly freaky, but not really scary enough to wake you up. In this dream, I was in a huge, empty, warehouse-like space, and suspended from the ceiling by wires was a gigantic teddy bear - much like in this comic, in fact, only minus the freaky aspects; just a normal teddy bear, albeit gigantic. So this teddy bear was evil or something, and it was trying to get me. The teddy bear itself was inanimate, but it could swing about on these wires it was suspended by, so it kept swooping down from the ceiling trying to crush me or bop me or knock me out or something. Now, this teddy bear was fairly slow-moving, and had fairly bad aim, so it was easily for the dream-me to avoid it - I just ducked down or flattened myself against the floor, and it passed over my head. So I kept ducking, and the teddy kept missing me, and I was kind of wondering where this dream was going next, when all of a sudden I felt this tremendous impact - not in the dream, in real life - and I woke up all freaked out going 'GAH! THE TEDDY BEAR'S GOT ME!' It turned out what had happened was this. Remember what I said earlier about how our little dog had come along with us? Well, she always slept with me at night since she was a puppy, and she had gotten bored doing whatever she'd been doing, and had decided to settle down with me for the night. Well, she was a small dog, and the bed was high up, so she had to make a mighty leap to get onto it, and when she impacted with the springy mattress it shook the whole bed, which created the impact I felt. So I woke up all gasping and sweating, thinking that I'd been hit by the giant teddy bear, only to find myself looking into the puzzled eyes of my little dog. It was quite the anticlimax. So, right. Sorry if I bored y'all by blathering on about my nightmares, but the similarities were striking enough that I noticed them immediately, and I thought you might be interested. Life imitates art, as they say.
